Thought provoking video regarding automakers worldwide

this "person", "mrSanders", has, to my knowledge, never made a single post about metals, machining, tools, or showing any experience or interest in actually making things from metal. I only looked back about six pages on their posting history, but it seems to be all completely political and ideological pot stirring. They seem to exist solely as a political troll.
I will stand behind my 40 years of metalworking, as a reason why I am posting here, but I am kinda tired of seeing an obvious troll being allowed to remain.
I have already explained how I got to this forum and why I do not write on technical topics. I won’t repeat about how I got there, but talking on technical topics through a translator is absurd and abracadabra. but I see you are a man of the old school, probably were for McCarthyism I suppose. so think in clichés and clichés

spare me your propaganda, answer to the point. automobile factories, factories for the production of microcircuits and full-cycle machine tools? Or just assembly?
If I many comment---Assembly relying on outsourcing. versus Vertically integrated(?) auto manufacturing.

At this time whether your in California or some other place with an auto plant of any consequence it's all pretty much assembling a vehicle with parts sourced from all over the world.
It seems that may change in Texas with the Tesla gigafactory.
Certain states may claim they have the Big Brains that lead the nation but when their Big Brains some up with some earth shaking product it's most likely gonna get shipped out to some country with low buck labor costs and minimal social and environmental restrictions.
It took Foxconn to figure out how to manufacture bazillions of Apple products and allow Apple to make $$$$$$$$$$.
Just a guess but California is probably not the best overall choice if your looking for an environment where actually manufacturing something from scratch would be the best choice. Of course they are a few exceptions I'm sure.

Actually Ries...your pretty big on political and ideological pot stirring. And actually I doubt many who have come onto to PM in the last couple of years actually know what it is you do or what the name of your company is.
If you don't like the topic or questions presented in a post why do you get involved in the first place?

Why did I start this conversation? I don't like talking about the worthlessness and alleged uselessness of certain territories. someone does the dirty work that is not visible, and someone skims the cream. and talking about GDP is nothing more than a kind of "marketing"

Yeah, same game plan the world over. Most of the Great Cities of the World are centers of money changing gleaned from being clever and exploiting influence.

again, even though I am now a Washingtonian, (also socialist) "WE" do not make your legislation.
your problem is with your neighbors, your children, and how THEY vote in PA.
I, personally, have never voted in PA.
Thats on youse.
Maybe because your upwind, I should be able to enact laws on you.

Let's keep this civil folks. I think everyone here has a reasonable opinion and can have a good discussion without insulting each other.
We've had to ban some folks from this forum who were unable to do that recently.

Actually, I don't see much problem with Ries's posts.
He usually ( may I say pretty much always ) does post actual facts, even though we ( as-in He and I ) typically disagree how to interpret those facts.
And as far as I am concerned, that last post of his - addressed to the Mr. - was the "fuck-off 'cos I'm done with'ya" comment.

Wish more took the same route and recognize a troll, and treat him/her as such, because the lack of such restraint is what gets otherwise good threads locked.

Weeell, first you'd need to refute Ries' point that California doesn't make laws for YOUR State before you get to argue that YOU should get to make laws for California.

Off you go.....

But of course, you won't, because you know he's right, and the people voting for laws 'the same as California' are your neighbours and fellow-citizens.

And they have every right to vote in a manner different to what you approve of.

We in Pa don't get a vote on kalifornia's laws.
At the point it get's to Pa, only our goobenor votes.
Kalifornia is nothing but a cesspool for breeding up bad ideas.
As far as taxes, that tax base is fast eroding as employers and residents are leaving in droves.

I am half Finn. My kids are 1/4 Finn, 1/4 Hungarian Jew, and 1/4 Ukranian Jew. There is not a lot of love lost for Orcs in my family.

California has a huge tax surplus. It is not going broke.

Pennsylvania has to live with the Governor it elects. In a democracy, the voters decide. There are plenty of elected officials I do not agree with.
I vote, I have voted in pretty much ever election since I turned 18 in 1973. My kids vote.
Beyond that, you are kinda stuck.
I cant blame California, or Pennsylvania, or Trump or Biden if my neighbors all vote for somebody I dont like.

Ridiculous
The PA governor unilaterally imposed CA emissions restrictions on PA?
A link for that please
tax base is fast eroding?
I will not support every single thing that CA does but it was the #3 in GDP growth last year, yeah, everyone is leaving.
There are opinions and facts, sometimes they coincide, in this case they do not.
Oh, by the way the top 2 were NH and TN, both of which apparently added a few new farmstands resulting in their spectacular economic growth

Thought I'd just post this URL here as it'll likely resonate with a few of the usual posters. Those who think that their way is the only way even when a majority of fellow citizens of their own home State disagree.

How dare people who disagree with you vote or work, right?

I do not have any problem with Cali. They do well in business and everything it seems comes through and out of Cali. It is location and very important. I like the people there as they try to always have fun. My best memories are visiting Cali with my wife 20 years ago. We loved it and had a great trip. They can tend very liberal though. I did not say Communist though. That would be unfair.
