Nice, those were the best years. The original modern Mustang.
Coyote in the silver car but built bottom end, reworked and ported heads, bigger fuel system, etc…. It is crazy that bone stock they’re happy as can be with 800 hp. The weak link is really just the pistons.
The 66 currently has a...
The shaft on the right is the one I’m working with. The top two gears, top is 5th, next one down is 6th. The two gears below those are the two I’m replacing due to being destroyed (3rd and 4th). Well, now I’ve ordered a new 5th due to breaking teeth at the 12 ton mark in a 100 ton press.

Yessir! I get everything from a custom gear manufacturer, made to hold more power.
If I can figure out how to add pictures or a video, I’ll post those up here in a bit.
Blowing it up is on the list - down toward the bottom, but the list is growing shorter.
Thanks for the tip on keeping the torch set upright. I had heard that years ago from either my brother or my nephew (both used to use them regularly) but they didn’t explain why - just remember them telling...
I’ll be picking up an OA torch kit Monday and getting it filled - unless I can find one used nearby for sale.
I’ve been using one of the plumbers propane torches so far.

My plan keeps changing, but now I plan on...

This one is modified with heavier duty, treated internals, and other upgrades for power handling.
Great info - thank you! That makes sense about expanding back into the hole. I’ll do just as you said.
I’m going to wait until next week for some additional steel plates just so I can get the very best, and most even support beneath the gear.
This is a Ford transmission. There’s three shafts - the input shaft, the output shaft and the countershaft.
The input and output shafts are complete units with their respective gears made as one with the shaft. You replace them completely if any of those gears are hosed.
But this is the...
This is very helpful, thank you! I’m going to freeze the entire assembly then put it under about 10 tons of pressure while heating the heat as fast as possible with an oxy torch.
If this doesn’t pop it loose, I’m going with a replacement shaft and gear set.
But I won’t stop on this...
