A disk type cutter may not work for this, the run out from the cutter may cut into the close by shoulders. This was probably meant for a rolling or shaper operation.

No, it is a small CNC lathe that is used mostly for thread rolling but is still capable of all regular operations running coolant. The thread rolling lube is hand applied rather than running oil for all operations.

I have two different types of axial thread roller heads and they use different programs. One type uses a trip lever that must be pushed to disengage the rolls, on the other you stop the feed and the head pulls away from the body and disengages a jaw clutch. Both were adapted from turret lathes...
??? touched on something with the reefer units on trailers. Look at how they are built. If someone can put a Diesel engine and a compressor unit into a box and make it quiet I would be looking at the design.

Ah, cmon! A little hubris and ignorance will get us some laughs.
Seriously though, I dabble in some low tolerance gearing and hope he gets some outside experience/knowledge before committing to any large orders.

I had an old saw that started cutting a curve also. Turned out it was the head balance spring adjustment had slacked off giving too much weight on the blade. Set it up and it was right back to cutting straight.

Right there is the part that bit me. 220 times 10% gets you 242. You get a surge from some place and it gets ugly. My voltage was running 248 and it cost me a spindle drive. Fanuc wanted $13K for a rebuilt. Get the buck transformers to keep it safe.
