Renishaw MH20-i not lighting LED
The Renishaw MH20i probe in my Mitutoyo Crysta CMM is not lighting the red LED when turned on. The probe isn't working. The power did go out a few days ago and the computer shut down. Any thoughts? Probe? cable? PC card? -

carbide insert getting build up turning aluminum
It was heat treated to a normal strength and hardness (likeT6), correct? -

My machine will pump coolant then it will stop and run a cycle with no coolant. Pleas Help

Tool holders fall out of ATC arm coming from pots
Did it used to work? Did the swing arm get hit hard? If so do what Jacob suggested. On my machine the motor (not a servo motor) has a shaft extension with a hex male profile that allows you to attach a socket and drive with a wrench.- BobM3

Tool holders fall out of ATC arm coming from pots
On my Hardinge (Bridgeport) the tool would get thrown when the swing arm rotated. There's a cam on the swing arm that is supposed to hold the tool in during swinging. The rod pushing the cam was sticking and I cleaned it off and all was fine.- BobM3

Help! How much axial force from the table can a Bridgeport spindle head take?
I think my Bridgeport is rated for a 1/2" drill in steel. You could back-track and look up the force from that.- BobM3

Curious about fit on tapers.
So I'm about to machine a taper on the lathe jaws to hold a casting. Obviously the taper can't match the casting exactly. I'm thinking you shoot to get contact at the widest point (the entrance to the taper)? Seems like that would have the most moment resistance. I see Cat40s are at an...- BobM3

Improve Longevity of Worm Gears?
You can blue up the teeth to check contact. Phosphor Bronze or Aluminum Bronze with a hardened steel worm works. Cast iron gear and soft steel for worm also work. Mobil 634 Synthetic works well for worm gears. -
