If you have UK level support then it's better to buy used. There only a few engineers covering whole UK for HAAS but plenty of ex engineers who give quicker response and better value
Yeah I think you’re right about financial and I am also pained to ruin a part of history. If I did the mods it would be bolt on additions rather than ruin machine.
I may just restore for the pleasure of bringing it back to former glory.
Thanks for the that. I don’t need horizontal as have Deckel FP1 clone so that does it all.
I think I am leaning towards modification but great hear others thoughts
I have picked up a Pallas C horizontal mill. I didn’t need it but was too much fun to leave behind. I am planning on scraping it all back in so running true and a pretty restoration job. I’m wondering if there is any desire for these machines as in collectible or that effort is wasted. (Not the...
Thanks Richard, I love his thorough and thoughtful as is so much more humble than he needs to be. Mind you it’s what makes us good as engineers, always seeking self improvement.
Thanks Richard, I be buying your course and will speak to others you mention regarding courses.
Jan did mention some Europe courses when I discussed on YouTube.
Evening All,
I have finally been drawn back into machinery rebuilds for my hobby and would like to spend some time with an experienced pair of hands to guide me.
I have basic knowledge and have scraped in a few little parts of my own but would like to learn correct technique, mapping and...
Well problem is back and still no agreement to change our machine. Takes around 5 days to a breakdown sorted.
I know what make my new milling machine won’t be!
All machines can have problems but it’s how they are delay with in my mind. My 20 year old Prototrak was better than this...
As a new ST10 owner I would say neither and if going toolroom then go Prototrak.
My ST10 has been apart more times than I care to mention trying to find a fault.
Wait around 5-7 days for breakdowns to be fixed.
Machine has 40 hours and now screen is playing up.
Go with a base setup doosan...
Update, totally clean install of software seems to have solved sizing issues (for now).
But as the machines getting old now (40 hours) the screen is now
Dodgy.
I think a bloody Chinese lathe would have been been better than this.
Really interested to know how you got them to do that because I am going through an issue they cannot solve with my ST10 with tolerance moving all over the place 0.4mm at times.
I have told them I don’t want it fixed in my time any longer and want a machine I can have confidence in. Mine only...
Well I thought we had it solved but now cutting 0.3 to 0.4mm out of tolerance and totally inconsistent.
They have tried software, disconnecting thermal comp sensor, ball bar tested and still no good.
Machine that was meant to make me profit is making me losses.
Will be getting rid of this...
