  • Hi Dennis,
I have just acquired a South Bend 8" Junior lathe that needs to be converted to bronze spindle bearings. The bearing caps and spindle bearing surfaces are very worn. Looks to be never lubricated. I would like to have the bearing caps line-bored, the spindle bearing surfaces turned down and bronze bearings installed. Can you shed any light on this conversion ?
    Thanks,
    Giovanni
    Dennis,
I am very impresses by your work. I have recently acquired a lathe which I believe is a Champion Blower and Forge 9L. However all of the tags are missing as well as the gear cover. Also the spindle measures 1.478" O.D. as opposed to the normal 1 7/16". I am hoping you can help me to identify this lathe. Flickr: chasxjs' Photostream Thanks, Charles
    Hi Dennis:
Just wondering in your work at Tecktronics if you ever ran across Ross Teneyck? He is a family friend, may as well be related.
    Dennis,

I am near Salt Lake and work in Boise/Twin Falls on occasion. I may have a job near Twin Falls in the next few weeks so if that would help you move the lathe farther west let me know.

    Dennis,
No hurry on the Wade parts pictures. Would love to add to my machine and save the stuff, especially the electric underdrive gearbox/transmission, don't know if that would be economical to ship.

Do you hace more pictures? I would shure like to get a look at what my machine should look like. The motor and top drive look like they are hacked onto the machine by some backwoods Wisconsin farmer. Chris.
Dennis, came across whats left of a big white dial (100 divs) that i think is for the compound on a Hardinge. the numbers are worn a little in a couple of places but he witness ring in nice and sharp. They are yours if you want them just send me a mailing address. Paul H.
