Press brake tooling for a newbie
Guys, this is a 6 year old thread. I wacked off 18" from both dies and sold the left over 4ft pieces to another guy that has a press brake. He is now my local source to bend whatever I need, the short pieces I made a slide in brake for my press and it works fine for just bending up brackets...- Doug W

I have longer, but it would be too heavy to ship flat rate, so $150/ft, 3 ft min and you figure out how you want it shipped and how much it costs. and do the 3rd grade math. Let's all do it together, 6 x $150 = $900 + freight. But freight wasn't the deal...- Doug W

I have some 4140 Prehard 5" round bar, 28-32Rc that was ground and polished by Tuffs Grinding in Chicago, but has been banging around the shop, the protective cardboard tube is in tatters so the surface is occasionally nicked, slightly rusted and scuffed. The only thing idiotic are those 2 extremes, which are completely farcical. I bet the amount was somewhere between a guy not wanting to lose it and not enough to buy it through a known steel supplier in 20 ft lengths, minimum order and all the rest.- Doug W
