Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Nope, both the mill and the lathe will be place on the bottom floor above beams so that I am not risking overloading the structure.

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

I've put a deposit on the lathe as it seems like a hell of a nice machine and exactly what I was looking for. The same seller also has this Eumega milling machine that will be arriving at the end of the month and is made in Taiwan. I am also considering purchasing it as it also seems to be in...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

So I would be able to make NPT and BSP threads on this lathe then?

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Can I create inch threads with this lathe? There is only mention of metric and Whitworth. I would like to make my own pneumatic fittings/manifolds etc, am I missing something?

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

The user manual mentions the steady and follow rests but it doesn't say if it is standard or optional equipment. Good to know that any D1-4 faceplate would work on the lathe. Would it be hard to find the original follow and steady rests? Worst case scenario they could be milled on a CNC mill...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

My location is clearly stated below my username. I am not in the States but in Lebanon.

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Looks like the owner of the lathe even changed the knobs as they look machined and not stock. These are actual pictures of the items that are being sold. The dealer actually lives in Germany and his job is to buy used machinery and ship them to his brother in Lebanon. He fills up containers...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Ok so I found a local dealer of used industrial machinery who only imports European machines and has found what might be a gem of a lathe at least in my limited opinion. It's a Graziano SAG 12 s lathe. He is asking 11 k $ shipped to Lebanon including all fees and taxes. Doesnt look like I'm...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

I've been looking around for used lathes but they all seem to be very old and in bad condition. Shame the market here is so small that I can't even find a nice American or EU made unit. That being said, I will most probably get the Baoji lathe. I am also looking for a milling machine and...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Not quite but good guess! I really need it to assist me in making parts for some machines like a hydraulic press, wood chopper, belt grinder, press brake etc. Will be using it also to design custom made feet for tables and machines, square off parts prior to welding, make tools for my welding...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Ok so I found another brand new Chinese lathe that seems to be way more heavy duty and robust than the previous. The Baoji BJ-1640GD. The dealer is asking 10k $ for it and it is a beast of a lathe at 1700 kg. Should I for this one instead if my ceiling can support the weight?

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

Thanks for all the replies thus far. It is obvious many of you have strong negative feelings about import lathes. It's understandable specially if one has only been using name brand lathes all their lives and know what a good lathe feels like. That being said, my options are limited even in...

Chinese lathe good enough for my needs?

So I'm looking to buy a new lathe, preferably something Taiwanese however, they are not readily available here in my country but dealers can order one for me if I wish. That being said, I've always tried avoiding buying Chinese tools and machinery but I've found this one for sale locally and...

Is this Bridgeport mill worth buying?

Not hard, just inconvenient by today's standard of laziness.

Is this Bridgeport mill worth buying?

That's exactly what I had in mind. Don't like have to change the belt position for every tool change and a VFD would make it easier to adjust the speed on the fly. Will keep that spec in mind thanks.
