I have worked in both union and non. I can say, that yes, union contracts do stipulate that workers get replaced with another worker. Union got pissed when the engineers were going to do their own rapid prototyping using 3d printers instead of paying them to make a part out of steel not knowing...
I hate when people say the consumers voted with their wallet. They did this because they themselves are not getting paid enough...because their companies executives also wanted to maximize their profits.
I was once told that a guy in the shop was the best machinist. The best. The best at running the same 50 parts on that Bridgeport all right. And there is some truth to that right? Pays to try and be humble, but some guys you need to move to some other type of work to get money out of them.
I was thinking if you move the z axis as you rotate C axis(spindle) with the angle head live tool. Now will you maintain tolerance, probably not. Just the concept I was presenting as far simpler and easier as you would not need a second op or setups.
A 4th axis lathe could do it if the milling tool holder was an adjustable horizontal angle head as well with dovetail or something with enough clearance on shank.? Just turn most of it like on a 2axis, bring in the holder and run c axis??
I am sorry, but you are located in KY and offering pretty good wages. You still can't find people? Maybe it is your facility, equipment, or local advice not to work for you?
Nowadays companies hiring anyone...much like you..saying they will train and never do. They never want to. It's so easy...
Here is the thing. What was the FIRST widely used G-codes? Why wont the other companies go on board with that? My guess Fanuc. Sure certain controls just suck, and be captive to MTB's can suck too, but give me a damn good reason why a simple canned cycle can't be the same? All you are doing...
Start kids on the Haas simulators, then the TL2 and Mini mills. Then level them up to maybe a Doosan LEO etc to get them used to FANUC. Everything is Fanuc. Haas is fanuc based anyways.
Most here are giving you great advice and have experience on the equipment you asked about. I am glad you are slightly diversified since economy is ho hum right now and I have not heard good things in the gun department lately.
Did you come up in the machining world and if so mills or more...
^^ if you have a program you can compare in both machines at same time..for the love of all things holy,..please show some here the light that has been bestowed upon you of the differences in quality etc.
I like how everyone here is arguing over this or that when all it was to anyone with real insight was just another advertisement for a brand...this time Iscar.
But yeah, enough to piss a guy off.
Since you don't have jaw problems we move on to next thing..
1) Do you have ANY chatter or harmonics when roughing? *you say you are only cleaning up that last little bit
2) Trying a VNMG first with a .016 insert, then .008 at decent feed at slower SFM.
3) still doesn't work look if you have a...
Well the white does refract light better. Check all the airlines, fittings, high-lo gear stuff next, replace door windows maybe and bearings and get to work. Be careful where you buy your parts at. A much trusted source according to "everyone" not so much..
