Challenger, you got bad advice.
Most states have an on call person for their health dept even on weekends. Will wager they recommend rabies immunizations 100% for a bite.

I’m curious if this is the correct approach as the bearing outer race is pressed into the hub but the inner race is a slip fit on the spindle. Don’t bearings like this wear out faster or overheat if both inner and outer races are fixed in place?
I’ve seen Road Warrior! There were all sorts of sketchy rigs bombing down the hiway!!!
On a more serious note, are there no hotrodders in Australia? Are they only able to put manufacturers factory aftermarket parts on and do nothing of their own mods like shortening springs, wider wheels, lift...
Thanks for answers and reality checks. I thought about turning down diameter and sleaving but concerned about reducing the diameter and thus strength of said spindle. What do you think of these types of repairs? More or less risky? Seems like a potential liability issue especially with 80,000...
I have a front strut for a 1972 Porsche 911 where the axle spindle got a bit galled up where the inner bearing rides. Is it ever acceptable to do a weld build up and turn back down to size? If it’s acceptable, what would be the correct filler, weld method and is there any specific heat treat...
When I built my shop in Oregon, I looked up companies that manufactured the roofing. I used https://www.custombiltmetals.com . I made drawings of all the roofing I wanted as well as drawings of all the flashings and soffit coverings I wanted. For a 44’ x 94’ roof with lots of custom flashing...
I’m responding to an old thread!
I have been studying the Fitch design as I have a 3 phase 10HP compressor that I would like to power from an RPC. I am assuming I need at least a 20HP 3 phase motor to accomplish this. I’m looking for suggestions on how to select an RPC motor in the 20 HP range...
Unclear: That taper will have to be turned not broached. Or do you mean to broach a keyway into the female taper?
BilL D
yes, I was unclear. The taper not the issue, I was referring to the keyway.
Mud, thank you for the picture, gives me ideas.
I have a hydraulic wheel drive motor that has a 1-1/2” per foot taper for the output shaft. I need to make a hub with same internal taper. I have a Dumont broach set for straight broaching but have never done a tapered internal broach. I have manual lathe, mill, press, broaches. Any suggestions...
Some of the answers will depend on the length of the bevel. Shorties on small parts can be done on the mill. Large plates are probably gonna be done most economically with a motorized track and torch.
