Barrel I get from Lilja have chamber side marked. In the Past I had no problem getting .22LR to group 1/2" or less at 50 yards in semi-auto pistol barrels. Being NRA Precision pistol competition longest range is 50 yards there is no sense to try longer distance.
Yes I knew that McMaster had the Black Oxide pins but their shipping has went up! MSC has same pins from SPI @ $2.95 each. Pins in 1/2 thousandth because they too were only $3.69 each from Vermont I added to the list, got 5/16" tubing for handles and 5/32" square brass I needed for another job...
What's to bore on .22LR? Pilot diameter .217" another reamer ,218". If chamber is .226" on the small side, Cutting .004"/side cut easily can start oversize!
I understand so little needs to be cut rougher is not necessary but is supposedly increases the life of the finisher. And making target...
No the knobs are brass, cut a broken knob to see what it was made of. Cover plate is thick brass sheet fit over steel backing, not lacquered nor clear coated. Laverda; was thinking about 955 bronze so I'll give it a try.
I have a number of lathes, my go to lathe is a Hendey 1952 version 18 gear speed. Tail spindle indicates .001" high, ways are perfect.Have 3 other Hendeys and really nice P&W new Model C with also excellent ways but being 16" it's kinda big for pistol barrel work. I do have a few name brand...
I have been using a set (rougher/finisher) of .22lr from Clymer for quite a while. Not sure what style. decided to try Bentz style from Manson. Also thought replaceable bushing pilot would be good to have, at the time I needed .217" pilot. (ordered and received) I then got a tightbore barrel...
What is the best Brass or better yet Bronze stock alloy that will not corrode or tarnish? I have been using 954 Al bronze for strength but it will tarnish after time. Have similar application where strength of 954 is not needed. I have door knobs both inside and out that stay as bright as the...
JGS Precision Chambering Reamer company makes a floating holder. Also seen a video by UR (Ultimate Reloader) on Youtube has info on making a fixed holder by taking a blank 3MT holder, putting in tail stock then putting a boring head in lathe chuck (after rough drilling undersized hole) and...
Situation has changed, he sold his home in GA and purchased another in FL so lathe will not be sold. It will be set-up at his new home! Thanks all for the help!
I do have the pins but want to make a special gauge, epoxy the pins in a handle. Need 4" length but measurement area is only .5" so standard length pins will work. Better is 4" long pins then I don't need handle but cost needs to be low. Used pins OK, used gauge blocks will also work. Have a few...
I agree that some oils are very good, That uncle of mine I mentioned told me they used Mobil oil in their gear boxes and turbines because it was a better oil than Chevron had! For something like precision spindles a standard oil is not good because it contains paraffin. To be honest I was...
Watching PF I wasn't looking for the cheapest oil. What I like is the comparison. I'll decide which is best. What I want to avoid is buying what I think is the best yet get nothing more and advertising hype! What impressed me the most about Harvest King was the tackifier. It was the only one...
Thanks SIP6A ordered and on the way.
JST; Yeah I know PF is kinda iffy! I don't understand he claims to not be sponsored but he destroys a lot of items, some are quite expensive. Not putting the stuff on machine ways. I judged the performance from what I seen and willing to test a gallon
I seen a test on Project farm and liked the results of Harvest King bar and chain oil. I want to try it on machinery. But I can find location the will ship it, it available in $10 to $15/ gallon but pick-up only. Ebay only has quarts but a 24.99/qt thought $10 each if buy 4.
Anyone know who will...
