Cincinnati 16" Shaper for sale on FB in Buffalo

That's hysterical! I guess it never hurts to ask. Even the machinery flipper/dealers aren't asking that much for shapers with vises.

    Welding 4140

Looks don't really mean much and you're talking an alloy that's on the challenging side to weld properly. 4140 gets brittle when things aren't just right, but it can still look fine. The only really true way to know if the welds are good is to make a test piece or two with the same...

Problems with TIG on Mild Steel

I didn't say "pretty common" I said "with some frequency". I don't know if that was two times a year or two times a month, but they had hundreds of bottles lined up coming and going every week. I also said the owner of the shop said it happens mostly when they change the gas in a bottle...

Problems with TIG on Mild Steel

This is implausible, at best. The only thing changing when you swap bottles is the main bottle to flow meter/regulator connection. That's at 2000psi (give or take on a full bottle) and it's not going to let anything into the system so a leak there wouldn't cause contamination in the first...

Need parts for Rockwell / Delta 11" metal lathe

He posted that in 2007 and hasn't been on this site since 2011.

How much spindle nose runout is normal?

Proper fitting of an adapter plate requires facing as you describe. With a 4-jaw chuck it doesn't matter much as you're going to be indicating to zero anyway, so a direct-mount chuck is fine.

    What’s going on at Boeing

No, it's called being a realist. His claims started prior to 2017 when he retired. You don't wait 6+ years to kill a whistleblower long after they've made the safety claims to the FAA/NTSB/etc. He's been involved in legal action against Boeing since shortly after he retired, but it was...

Knew it wouldn't take long for the conspiracy theory crowd to show up.

Looking for help with Sargent Hand Plane

You might be surprised what some plane models are going for. Half and quarter-sizes like the 4-1/2 and 5-1/4 always seem to command a premium along with the largest and smallest sizes. My wife has an eBay business (nothing crazy, just 50-100 listings on average). She's sold mostly...

    Wanted Clausing 8520 Mill .

Prices vary quite a bit with location, but an 8520 or 8530 is generally in demand everywhere so they're rarely cheap....$2,500 to $4,500 is common. Overall, that looks like a decent machine, but the quill handle and down feed hand wheel are missing. That's an area of concern because they're...

    Slick Move, Slowing Economy Tactic

I think EmGo gets paid to kill threads. BTW, he's been banned in the past under a different user name.

    Slick Move, Slowing Economy Tactic

Only if we include all the times when people use "your" instead of "you're" and "to" instead of "too" and "there" instead of "their"....I could go on. This forum is a spelling and grammar shit show.

    3 phase Motor in Reverse!

A Google search on the machine he mentioned turns up a stone cutting machine, so maybe not gold mining? A related search turns up commentary that the guy who wrote the manual was convicted of embezzling $25 from the company, sentenced to death and his organs have already been harvested...seems...

    3 phase Motor in Reverse!

No argument there, but in this case it's probably a safe bet that the way things are currently (when he posted) the motors were running the backwards and any fans wouldn't be working as intended.
