Singapore will get two new bridges to make up for the loss,... In Baltimore.
It's the only obvious way to make sure we properly make up for the damages.
Baltimore can build one too as long as tax payers are willing to approve the new "bridge tax"
I would hope so! But these do appear to have been very custom, base and head were flame cut with welded risers to contain the glands. decent looking overall, but doesn't look "production".
Wow, that's pretty bad, maybe your suppliers got the " bottom of the barrel" leftovers from the steel mill due to low supply. Those do seem ( to me at least) like odd sizes, and probably not common run shapes. On the custom stuff, yes, it seems like getting correct parts is more difficult.
I've used hardware store Milwaukee and DeWalt HSS hole saws many times to "trepan" up to 1-1/4" mild varieties of steel plate successfully up to 5" in diameter without trouble, of course it's usually in my Radial arm drill or Cincinnati mill where I have flood coolant, but I've used the...
Just about finished these up, thought I'd do an update.
Well, I opted to add piston wear bands, during setup for the grooving I decided to just screw the piston on to the rod for easy indicating. After indicating the piston I pulled the clutch and started getting groovy with it. I suddenly...

I bought one from an auction to save it from the scrapper, later sold it for $125 to a truck shop mechanic. It's not precision nor a highly desirable collectible, but still better than most of the import home shop drill presses sold in hardware stores.
In my search for the OP machine I also found a 12" Morey slotter on FB marketplace in Detroit if anyone is interested. No affiliation with the seller. Just doing a bit of shopping myself.
Big Buck,
I've had much of the same experience, however when it comes to the chromed rods I have seen and made many large cylinder rods that weren't induction hardened, largest so far was 160mm on a fork truck mast cylinder and a 12" x 16' steel baler cylinder rod.
If it's not likely to see...
I've done some.. interesting setups to get smaller tooling in my shaper lantern tool post. Fortunately it's pretty much limited only to one's imagination as far as tooling setups go. If it hold and cuts, it must be a good setup.
Although pictures of some of those setups are necessary or they...
