I'm in need of a roller for use in an industrial machine. Something 60" wide, 3-4" diameter, and covered in rubber. It would be excellent if the rubber had a diamond pattern or similar in it. The roller will be used to feed cloth through the machine.
Actually, I can make the roller just fine...
I have many Capto C5 tool holders available. These are from a mill/turn that we've sold. All are in good condition, some are new. Pictures below don't include all tools but are intended to give a general representation of the condition.
We can accept payment by credit card if you'd like...
I would consider a different bar feeder. Our 80s2s are quirky. They seem to have software bugs or something. It's hard to put a finger on but of our 4 each has some quirk that's different from the rest. For example, one will sometimes just stop pushing. The lathe doesn't get a signal...
Awesome help and really appreciated.
Concerning cutting oils, what's to know there? Not as much maintenance as water solubles, but does that mean cheaper oils work just as well as expensive ones?
We're looking forward to the arrival of a Citizen L20. We'll be turning 1215, 12L14, and 416 mostly and I'm looking for tooling recommendations.
What inserts are working well for general turning work? We use a lot of VNMGs in our shop, but do I remember correctly that negative geometry...
I had a 10 hp Qunicy screw that ran for 18,000 hours. Bearings went out in the airend. I expected more life from it. Rebuild cost was high enough that I bought a 15 hp Qunicy. Despite having two of them, I'm not really a Quincy fanboy. Our support has been weak.
Devcon 10610 aluminum putty is holding 2-3 of our bar feeders right now. Clean 'crete and feet well and apply the epoxy. To remove just heat the foot up and give it a rap with a hammer. Epoxy can be easily sanded flush to the concrete after removal.
I have one of those lathes and have helped a friend who also purchased one. My experience has been good overall.
Fortunately I haven't needed parts other than a coolant switch which was sourced stateside.
Of the two machines I have experience with, one has been wired straight from the VFD...
If it works as advertised then I guess I'm good to go. We'd be running cold rolled 1/2" 12L14 mostly so I can't complain too much about material costs from long remnants.
Let's say the magic guide bushing does work as advertised. If a guy had relatively short parts anyhow, is either GB or NO...
No machine configgered yet, just considering options before I purchase. Ran a Citizen with guide bushing some a long time back. Decided the guide bushing was evil.
I was thinking here chucker mode with say 1.5x length sticking out from chuck. Turn front end of part then grab with sub...
OK now the next "brilliant" idea. Say a guy is running in chucker mode with no guide bushing. If you come grab the part with the subspindle and support it between the chuck and sub, how much does it help against chatter? Could a part with an L/D ratio of say 6:1 (.250" diameter and 1.5" long...
I'll ask my salesman but I see the Citizen Adaptive Guide bushing on a machine quote for $8900. Ya reckon this price is for the mechanism and then I'll need the bushing right? In other words not $9k per stock size I'd hope.
OK, so my swiss knowledge is dated. I owned for a while a Citizen L25 that was about a '99 model or so. It has a standard rotating guide bushing. For a turning center guy it was a pain.
The sales guys are telling me all about these new guide bushings that self adjust. Claims that I can run...
