    machine purchase opinion

I have SMEC lathes and a Genmill 4024. Do you have any specific questions? If you are in the socal area you are more then welcomed to drop by my shop and you can see the machines. The quality of both machine brands is fine. I have had the Genmill and smec machines for around 3 years and never...

CNC Lathe turns OD's well, but does not repeat when boring

So I have a bunch of doosans and more then once the locating system inside the turret can get dirty and lead to inconsistent sizes. The best way to test it is to put a indicator of the station in question and zero the machine. Move the machine up in the x and index to a different tool. Then...

CNC mill coolant pump needs priming?

All my doosan lathes need to be primed. They even have a set screw near the discharge fitting to prime the pump.

    Horizontal machine finish issue

Hypertune, Yeah the ball-bar test really only shows when the machine is moving slowly. But I expect to be able to finish aluminum with a 14000 spindle faster then 25 ipm. What would be too much play? I have about .0005" - Jon

    Horizontal machine finish issue

Hypertune, How would I check to see if that is it? Send it out for repair? edit So I was just reading online about ball nut wear and what stood out to me is when the Toyoda tech was looking at the ball nut he said that it turned very easily but to not worry because the backlash was set so low...

    Horizontal machine finish issue

This has been an on going issue for me. This part was made out of 6061. To make sure the finish pass was correct. I roughed the corners then ran a finish pass. After running the finish pass I would comp the tool in .005 and rerun it so I knew I would get a consistent cleanup pass. I have...

    Horizontal machine finish issue

I am currently having a finish issue with my Toyoda 450III horizontal. An example of my issue is if I am cutting a hex when the machine cuts in either axis alone the finish is good. When it cuts along at an angle it has issues with the finish being wavy. I attached a picture that tries to show...

    Y Axis Alignment/Turret Position? Puma 2500sy/Fanuc 18i-TB

You can just use the y offset page for the time being. Also are you using the live tool z axis holder for setting your zero?

This has been one of those weeks. Daewoo 2500 sy fanuc 18i control turret problems.

Yeah if it is only live tooling then I do not think it is the same issue I had.

This has been one of those weeks. Daewoo 2500 sy fanuc 18i control turret problems.

I have two doosans lathes that have had issues with indexing the turret. Both times it was very intermittent. For instance once a week on one machine and then once a day on another. Both times I had issues it was a electrical relay. If you can look at the electrical book and figure out which one...

Sub spindle Lathes.... Setting tools on the backside of the turret

I have a doosan LSY and I changed the parameter. I changed the parameter on all my subspindle machines. You will eventually q set the wrong offset. But after you do it the first time and then have to reprobe other tools you learn. I have done this for over 2 years with no issues. Also there is...

Time to decide on new lathe.

Williamsatv I can only tell you about my service in Southern California. The Doosan service in SoCal is the best I have had. I have never had to wait more then a day to have a tech come out and service the machine. The most expensive thing repaired so far is having spindle bearings changed and...

Time to decide on new lathe.

What would you like to know about doosan lathes? I have 8 of them. The oldest is from 1998 and still runs like a champ. I also have a 2012 2100 SY and a new lynx 220 SY that I am waiting for Doosan to finish the install. Have you looked at the new Doosan lynx LSYA. I believe they are very...

    Hyundai VX400

So you are not going to like this I have the same on a lathe controller. When you are in the edit menu hit the + or oprt soft key till you see a soft key called char-ext or c-ext. When you hit that soft key it gives you extra characters in the soft keys such as (). I am not near the machine...
