Help identify brand of steel industrial "clip" shelving

A wise suggestion, but I've beaten you to the punch! I've sent inquiries to all the mfgs I previously listed, plus a couple distributors. Replies are starting to trickle in. - So far, an engineer at Republic said that the uprights are not theirs and he can't guarantee their clips will fit...

Help identify brand of steel industrial "clip" shelving

More info... The shelf pieces are an assortment of different brands. Many of them are unmarked, but a large portion of them are stamped: "PA*...* STEEL CHICAGO ILLINOIS" The embossing is too faint to read the rest of the word that starts with "PA". I don't think it's PACIFIC because it...

Help identify brand of steel industrial "clip" shelving

Hi everyone, I'm hoping some folks on this forum know their shelving. I have a bunch of steel shelves and uprights I need to get clips for. I have no idea what brand the uprights are. They are asymmetrical angle posts with rectangular holes (that the clips would hook into) spaced 1.5 inches...

Heimann Mfg. Co. (transfer screws) DEAD?

It looks like the transfer screws stocked by McMaster that aren't made by Nielsen are from AMPG out of Indianapolis. Both seem to be good options. Anyone know the time and story behind Heimann's apparent demise?

Heimann Mfg. Co. (transfer screws) DEAD?

I always overlook McMaster for some reason. The ones they describe as "self-aligning" are definitely made by Nielsen. I wonder who makes the other ones, or if McMaster's COO info is accurate. It bugs me that McMaster tends to hide the manufacturer info. Maybe that's why they're rarely my...

Heimann Mfg. Co. (transfer screws) DEAD?

I maybe jumped the gun on this thread. I just found Nielsen and it looks like they're still around. Any others?

Heimann Mfg. Co. (transfer screws) DEAD?

Looking for a good USA or non-outsourced set of transfer screws. MSC lists a bunch of items from Heimann, but almost all are "Item Unavailable". Can't find a company website either. Is Heimann no longer in business? If that's the case, are there any other options for transfer screws from a...

Seeking recommendations on non-Chinese 1/8" solid parallel set

One other thing... Recently I did see a few wavy parallel sets apparently made in Switzerland by a company called Schleuniger. SPI sells them, or at least did at one point. If you're not set on 1/8" straight parallels, those might be an option. Not sure about affordablility.

Seeking recommendations on non-Chinese 1/8" solid parallel set

Nobody else in my class came up with anything that I failed to discover. As far as the 1/8" thick category goes, there is nothing made in the USA, or anywhere but China as far as I can tell. The other students bought a range of things from fairly generic to fairly reputable, like SPI, but it's...

    Where to buy good files??

Would you (or anyone else reading this) be able to explain the connection/difference between "Grobet USA" (lion logo) and Grobet-Swiss-Vallorbe (rabbit/hare logo). I had been under the impression that "Grobet USA" was simply the Swiss company's American branch, but as I've been shopping around...

Spellman / Spellmaco: only game in town for USA transfer punches?

I also contacted C. S. Osborne about their punches. The rep said they are partially made by them. When I asked what part they do themselves, the reply I got was: "The hardening and carefully checked to meet our standards." I'm not sure if he meant that they harden them in-house and check...

Spellman / Spellmaco: only game in town for USA transfer punches?

I gave McMaster a call, and their transfer punches are indeed made by Spellman.

Spellman / Spellmaco: only game in town for USA transfer punches?

Nothing at all. I just want to know what all my options are before I buy something. Trying to make sure something didn't fly under my radar.

Spellman / Spellmaco: only game in town for USA transfer punches?

Mayhew is great. They're actually the first place I checked for transfer punches. I have a set of their roll-pin punches with the bump on the tip to keep the punch on the pin, and I believe they are the ones who originated that style. I submitted the suggestion to them. It's probably a...

Spellman / Spellmaco: only game in town for USA transfer punches?

Yeah, that's kinda ouchy. Fortunately for me, I just need the smaller "3-17" set which is a lot less money. I think if you shop around you could find that larger set for under $300, but that's still a decent chunk of change. You are correct, I hadn't seen that. If their picture is accurate...
