How long have you been machining?

$4.86 was good dough for an 18yo in '79 imo. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

I wonder if a 10EE tailstock would work? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    Need help-extracting hardened screws.

I'd put some heat on the Al. That should expand quicker than the screw and breakdown any adhesive. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

    10EE headstock bolt tork

I have the gearbox off my 10ee so the headstock bolts are easy to access. The previous owner had removed the headstock sometime in the past. I'd like to check the tork on the bolts before reassembly. Anybody know the tork specks for the headstock bolts in the motor compartment? Sent from...

    10EE gearbox

Also, I find it very incredulous that the key would land in that spot. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530A using Tapatalk

    10EE gearbox

Bill, exactly my first thought.......it's just that I don't want to run it on an assumption. I'm a big believer in cause and effect. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530A using Tapatalk

    10EE gearbox

Bill, thanks! I have these same prints. What I'm looking for is guidance on how to get into the gearbox. I think it might have been 452-3 that came out but I'm unsure. I can't see down in there. When I took the gearbox off the machine, the key fell to the bottom allowing EE-2773 to...

    10EE gearbox

Hey guys, I had a woodruff key come loose in the gearbox of my square dial lathe. It prevented me from being able to engage the powerfeed. After a lot of hassel, I fished out out. Before I put it back into the machine, I want too dig into it to determine where it came from and why...

Monarch AA Tail stock refurbishment questions....

Vettbob, maybe I'm overlooking it but how are you getting lubrication to the ways? It appears that your inserts are covering the oil channels..... Or, did you machine them after the scrape job (and photo)?

Kearney and Trecker and Milwaukee No. 2 rotary head milling machine.

You could buy a hell of a lot of house for 78k back then. House I grew up in was a fairly nice middle class home and we paid about 18k in '70.

New to me Kearney Trecker 2D milling machine

I read somewhere about being able to jam the gib and lock it up. Mine is locked on both ends to prevent this...e.g. loosen one side and tighten the other to adjust.

I have the original bill of sale for mine. $78,000 1958 dollars. I'm guessing that's like $800,000 (or more) today's dollars.

Also, ill bet your x travel issue is in the gearbox/motor because there must have been a hell of a lot of force on it to make that break. In fact, I wonder if that 3/4 hp motor could even do it!
