My understanding is that "sensitive" in drillpress simply means that you drill by moving the table upward by hand. That's how you drill with tiny drills successfully.
I have a Micromart variable speed little drill press with an Albrecht 0-1/8" chuck. It has sorta high speed, and does a very...
I picked up a piece of 4" round from a friend and don't know it's composition. It turns beautifully, so I want to try to identify the material for future work.
It is quite shiny, not Stainless, not leaded, and it turns smoothly and cleanly. Is there a way to find out what it is?
The collets are very hard and very clean, especially around the slot, so my only choice is to grind the slots wider to fit, as I don't want to go inside the spindle.
I didn't measure...some fit and some don't, by 4-5 thousanths. Very easy to tell. Obviously, then, the old collets fit and the new ones don't. I bought a little grinding wheel today, and soon they all will fit. I'd rather not touch the pin.

Schaublin, and some from SV??. The Schaublin ones do not fit the spindle because the slot for the locating pin in the spindle is 0.104", and the slot in the collets is 0.99"( 2.5 mm). The ones from SV (I don't know who that is) have a slot...
I hope this thread is still alive, as I have a need for making some W12 collet accessories too. What is the thread form? Buttress 12 x 1.25? Do you use the 3 wire method to check progress?

Now if you read his article, you see that he says many, many F1's were sold worldwide. So, how is it that you rarely see an F1 or sale, and almost never see accessories for them for sale? Am I missing out somehow?
I am about to make a 35 mm shaft to attach my Sherline rotary table to the swivel...

A million bucks of knowledge!
OK guys, I am opting for the sandwich between 2 aluminum clamping plates on the mill table, and then milling them in batches. I have 15 of the same, and numerous others. They are already punched with 6 oval holes for the radiator cores to go...
