Don’t forget something in evaporated!
Just a don’t do what I did post. I have an 8” 4 jaw polish chuck hat had some light rust from sitting. removed the jaws and put it in a covered container of evaporust - life happened and it wound up sitting for several months. Well don’t really know why, but it wound up basically glued into... -

Treasure trove archive of lathe documents
Did you create that archive? Asking as I have piles of monarch prints that I got some years back when I bought the parts from a local monarch rebuilder. Have not gone through them (heck I don’t even have the time to work on my actual lathe). At some point they should all be either digitized...- PaulM

Checking floor inclination
Thanks. - and also glad this provided some amusement! Laser or transit is likely solution but since I have not done it before figured it was worth checking. Water levels likly will be used in installation, prob could be part of this solution as well. If we could flood, freeze then leave it... -

Checking floor inclination
So have an install application where the floor is supposed to be within 1/2 degree over an arbitrary distance (install can be arbitrarily long, 100+ feet certainly possible. Local variance (bumps divots etc) are supposed to be within +-20mm. How would you verify the floor before install... -

72 modular and had been working no issue for a bunch of years. All I did was take end belt covers off, could see the tubes partially lighting. 10ee Carriage stop rod question
Well not planning on pulling mine apparat to check (but maybe I will). Anyway, forces on the rod are quite low, so as long as the removed section is not so large there is no engagement it will still work. Think of it this way, the rod sliding back and forth in a matching radi will have a lot...- PaulM

Need help with 10EE lubrication
Monarch's change to headstock oil recommendation for the center sump followes what they changed to with the single sump square dial. Use that, as the original call out was somewhat strange as the headstock oils will mix with use, as others have said time marches on and lubricants have changed...- PaulM
