I found another one a couple of years ago, Cincinnati Heavy 24, no vice, have since gotten one 7100 pounds of shaper

    Poured Babbitt keys? modern replacements?

I'd feel better if it were me, to make a bushing out of bronze, broach a keyway in and maybe use bronze keys too.

COLUMBIA FORGE AND STEEL IN PORTLAND - CLOSES - HUGE MACHINES

I am on several auction lists, the number of notifications I get are depressing...................some are just reductions of equipment, but too many are liquidations.

    Shaper for Sale

My Navy 16 had auto feed and tool lifter, did this one come likewise? Electric clutch and brake as well.

Old Greaves and Klusman at local auction

I went to a local auction, not being able to stand the idea of this one being scrapped. I expected it to go for almost nothing, my feverish mind plotting how to handle moving it. I hoped there would be some interest, as I sure don't need it and was not looking forward to the move. It...

Another G&E 1928 Gould & Eberhardt 20" Standard Shaper Saved

Shoot some carb cleaner into the various lines and let it set overnight. Might dissolve years of crud and dried oil...............your compressed air might be more effective then. I've got an old 30 inch one that has drip oilers on the ram to oil the sliding block

Another G&E 1928 Gould & Eberhardt 20" Standard Shaper Saved

The G&E is a 1964 model, says G&E/Norton on the ram, they were together for a brief time apparently. I never expected to find one that new, let alone 12 miles away...............couldn't really afford it at the time, but bought it anyway. The only one I am currently using is an old 1919 ATW...

Another G&E 1928 Gould & Eberhardt 20" Standard Shaper Saved

+1 on the vise.......................if you don't get one with it, they can be a problem to find.

Another G&E 1928 Gould & Eberhardt 20" Standard Shaper Saved

I've got to get the downfeed working on my G&E, seems to just be stuck from lack of use. The cam that actuates it is gone too. The tool lifter has been gutted as well. The Navy ordered it with all the bells and whistles. Vintage Machinery's Cincinnati Manuals have been very handy for the...

Another G&E 1928 Gould & Eberhardt 20" Standard Shaper Saved

All shapers need to be saved. Very nice size and "modern" enough to be handy.

20" G&E Shaper - Unloading and eventual power up

1100 mile trip for a shaper.....................that is commitment . I've only done 100+ miles one way.

"The Machine Shed" - Building a Line Drive Shop from Scratch

Favorite hand tool brands no longer available

The round head fine tooth Craftsman ratchets from the 80's.............I used a 1/4 inch and 3/8 for all of my working life. They were fabulous for taking most things apart in tight quarters, never abused them, used others for that. I have stocked up on them on fleabay........don't want to...
