I don’t know, I’m in Waltham and I’d give you $400 for it, maybe $500 if the competition demanded. :-)

Rivett 1020S lathe for sale $7500

My 1030F is #536, made in 1968. It’s the latest serial number I’ve seen referenced, and was sold to the Brown Univ. Physics shop.

Who has a New Bridgeport series 1, how do you like it?

Here’s another vote for a 2-axis Prototrak. I can’t imagine any more using a knee mill without the ability to interpolate holes, pocket, profile, power feed, rapid between positions, etc. A DRO is a tiny step up from dials, compared to the Prototrak control which is worlds better. The 2-axis...

For Sale 6 x 12 Taft Pierce Surface Grinder

    Good shop vacuum?

My Fein is way up on the list for best money I’ve ever spent. I suck chips all day through a 1.5” 25 ft hose. It’s key to use a crevice tool so big tangles can’t get in. I also use a brush tool to clean machines.

    Why Can't Industry Use Schematics?????????

Hi everyone, This is a thread with a lot of potential value for me, and I thank you all for your contributions. I'm reading the thousands of words with great interest, but a few pictures would be a huge help. Does anyone with strong opinions have illustrative examples, or book...

OT - Crew Dragon (potential) launch live on NASA TV link

1 in 60 is the calculated likelihood of mission loss, i.e. not completing everything. They calculated 1 in 276 chance of crew loss, the difference being the various ways they could rescue the guys if something goes wrong.

    Sharpening Lathe Radius Cutters

I wouldn’t touch the radius, just treat them gently and stone or surface grind the tops if they wear.

rolling a precision sheet metal ring - How???

Once you hit quantities, could this be a screw machine part? Probably pennies compared to your current approach. Failing that, I would do it the way you’re doing it now. Maybe the roll and weld could be rougher if you start oversized, expand on a mandrel for ID tolerance and finish, then turn...
