I've seen Dialog pushbuttons that worked fine with the plastic top nearly worn *through* from pushing on it. I think it's pretty good equipment.
I have managed to take them apart and clean them... risky business requiring surgical skills and luck.

In the time when I had a 3M, I have to say that my opinion is that the panel switches were junk compared with the Dialog switches. Not a direction I would go intentionally.
So far it would appear that nobody "prefers" it this way.

You guys must be doing some kind of precision drilling.
I've spun chucks before... just removed and pressed them back on if it was only surface scratches.
I never really considered a drill bit, or a 3 jaw drill chuck as a "precision" tool.
