I'll take the better looking 5MT/5c w/ the sheared pin. I have a 6MT headstock but have never seen a 5C adapter for it. So will use a reducing sleeve in a pinch. I'll also take the 6MT to 4MT sleeve.
$55 + $6 post (still same?) = $61. How to pay?
I have the B955 head which can have the spindle and pulleys flipped L to R to get over one far end of the table or the other if necessary. Since I have to swivel the column head mount anyway, I'm going to have to reset the Z height for the far pad at a minimum. The outer table sides are cast...
4GSR: It does NOT look like that. Mine has a one flat and one V way on both X and Y axis that contact full length - just like a lathe or a bridgeport. No bearings (roller or ball) anywhere.
I don't know how to say this more clearly: There is NOTHING wrong w/ the ways now. They print/blue...
More info is in order. Prior owner had the rear X way oiling fail as I had mentioned. Grit in the wells locked the oiling wheels and wore a flat on them so they didn't turn:( That caused a LOT of damage to the rear flat way. They kept using it doing rotary work so probably went unnoticed by...
Looking to the folks who have run or repaired grinders for advice. I would normally ask the expert who originally did the work but he sadly is no longer with us:(
I have a KO Lee B360 tool and cutter grinder that had the ways reground and scraped a couple years back. I FINALLY got a little...
I have a 6' National pan/box brake. 12ga IIRC. Its in Jessup MD. Send me an email. Its my PM username @gmail.com ( or just click on my username and click the email link)
Not 6061 (especially in T6). Easily cracks if bent along the 'grain'. Across the grain can work ok, but one of the other alloys is probably a far better choice.
x2 on just getting a new one from bijur. I bought several for my R15 and just replaced them all. The apron hole was thru-bored so I could just knock it all the way in and then fish it out. The headstock one is counter bored so that wouldn't work and I couldn't easily get to the back of it so...
As pictures, yes, but if some simplifications were allowed it would become drastically simpler. Castings can do things 'just because they can' to save weight (which = $$$ in aluminum) which aren't practical when machined. The ends & webs both being undercut/hollowed out are the big ones. Easy...
Yes, PS is german (metric) horsepower so there is a very slight difference to english hp. Was technically obsoleted by the kW but you still see it in some car literature.
They are supposed to TIGHT. For every X diameter mismatch, the end mill flutes will have a X chip load mismatch since it is being clamped off center. Before you know it, the end mill is off to one side by over a thou even in a good one (couple tenths from the holder, couple tenths from the...
