It makes a huge difference what size tool you are shrinking. When you are doing small tools the aggressiveness of the heating makes all the difference in actually getting an old tool out. You will certainly get a 3mm or 1/8" tool into a holder with a torch but you aren't going to get it back out.
Skip the pistons and get a scroll compressor. Quite a few companies make them down in the 2-3hp range. I don't have personal experience with anything other than a 5hp Gardner Denver scroll but it was flawless for years.
Not sure what your price point or volume is but you can get one of these with an integrated wire cutter to get your parts complete. https://www.pensalabs.com/diwire-pro
I use honeycomb on my laser when I cut thin (0.005"-0.015" SS) material. It burns away a bit but retains enough structure to hold the material. I bought some surplus sheet on eBay years ago so I don't have a current source for you.
Honestly, that's a turret punch part. The hole flares can...
Buy a piece of 2" or thicker aluminum honeycomb core material to set your sheet on. The extra support from a 3/8" or 1/4" inch cell spacing helps everything stay put.
Watch out for random low priced Mikron on eBay. There's a very real chance that came from a dental manufacturer, ran DI water for coolant, and will be corroded to oblivion when you see it up close.
I'd never buy one of these over a Robodrill or Speedio but they are going to smash into the market like the original VF1. The Haas super power is okay-ish machines propelled by the best subprime lending available. And borderline absurd 84 month terms keep the pain level low...it will be like...
I've found that carbide GripSert inserts work best for me. They go into a 5deg undercut pocket so there's no force on the mounting screw and last forever. Can't remember who in europe actually makes them...I want to say Hilma but in a quick search couldn't find it. You can get them from...
Counterpoint: Just change the endmill for these parts unless it's an everyday thing. Both Dixi Polytool https://dixipolytool.ch/en/2022/04/decouvrez-nos-nouvelles-fraises-toriques-dixi-7453-cool/ and Mikron have endmills specifically designed for what you are doing...
Don't forget Carpenter Custom 465 stainless. It always seems to show up in surgical robotics parts. Or you know...after you make the first prototype on 17-4 (it bends or breaks) and they try to save the :poop: design by making it in something stronger.
No experience with GTI. I've only had two spindles rebuilt but they have both been perfect...actually smoother and better balanced than OEM. Try C&M in Oregon--> https://www.cm-spindle.com/
Counterpoint, my Polestar 2 is built just as well as the C-Class Mercedes I used to own. It's also otherworldly faster, quiet on the road, and the maintenance costs are loose pocket change by comparison to a German luxury car.
To the OP: The Bolt is a good EV, I know at least a dozen people...
