    Job Shop Air Blast PSI

This was something I was somewhat fearful of. The rotary supplies the machine, and I’d hate to somehow frag the control or PSU with inconsistent input power.

    Excellent info guys, thank you

    Job Shop Air Blast PSI

Good tip, thank you! At work they sometimes use these tablets, I heard chlorine but that sounds terrible for the machinery. Anyone know anything about those?

    Job Shop Air Blast PSI

In your opinion, should I pull from one leg for a single phase compressor of higher power or invest in a 3 phase compressor? I’m unsure of the effects on the rotary. I bought a prefab from Croman.

    Job Shop Air Blast PSI

Hey all! I did a quick search and didn’t find any guidance buried under all the fancy CNC stuff. I got a decent amount of encouragement from this forum when installing my “toy lathe”, as Doug called it, in my garage. I rolled my earnings from that machine into purchasing a Kiwa colt VMC. I...

    Help! Double Stacked Hydraulic Valve

I was trying to find out what they were called, so I could try to replace just the coils. the coils are like one pack for both, it looks funny. Late 80’s machines and this looks to be OEM. Thank you, I think I figured it out with the timer issue. Man these valves might be bullet proof

    Help! Double Stacked Hydraulic Valve

Thanks for the replies Might be a scarier issue While I was messing with it the turret troubleshooting it started to index. Glad I make a habit of staying clear of things. On the diagnostic 300s page, the timer for “turret index start” gets randomized when I type a zero into line 324 (lines...

    Help! Double Stacked Hydraulic Valve

We have a FEMCO lathe with a directional hydraulic control valve that went bad. The machine had sat for a while. The valve drove the turret rotation hydraulic motor. This valve (Daikin JS-G01-4CA-12) appears to have both solenoid coils on the right hand side… is there a name for this...

    Surfacing AN sealing taper?

Thanks for all the replies guys. I’m not looking to get into automotive machining, I’m not confident enough in my knowledge of cars to do that professionally. I’ll surface it in this time around if he’s willing to foot the bill. If he wasn’t a friend I probably would have just shied away from...

Key seat dimensions from an odd callout.

FWIW my day-gig job shop supervisor sometimes refers to key seats as width x depth… I realize this may just muddy the water for you A “1 x 1/2 key seat” is a slot for a 1”x1” key by that terminology… this kind of mix up is why they keep me around- a decent drawing answers a dozen questions...

    Lathe Tool Holders

If I’m not mistaken some of the holders have a coolant nozzle directed at the cutting edge while the really cheap ones might not have it. I second the chip wash theory too. I’m relatively young but I’ve watched cheap boring bars erode away within months of (albeit heavy) use. Maybe not as...

    Surfacing AN sealing taper?

I figured with it being aluminum it wouldn’t matter too much, but I’d hate for him to lose pressure for my oversight. Thanks for the feedback

    Surfacing AN sealing taper?

I do not own a TIG, nor do I trust my welding enough to sell or give it to someone else. As for him, I’m unsure of his welding prowess as well. Pretty sure it’s low pressure system ~200 PSI max (I’m not a car guy). For future reference, does anyone sell thread-in inserts that can be locked...

    Surfacing AN sealing taper?

I have a friend that needs some 6AN (tighter tolerance JIC/SAE J514) fitting connections put in an extruded aluminum fuel rail. I am not anticipating making any money off of this, nor do I want to make any more of these ports in the future. The porting tool looks like ~$150 minimum. I was...
