Heidehain has free software where you can remotely backup your machine in a snap. You still need to install the operating system. Hard drives do go bad............- mkd

That's a bit of a bodge. Constant sliding friction worm gears... You can do a similar thing with. Split spur gear. Torque motors for the win. Stupid accurate and they don't care about unidirectional positioning.- mkd

With such a well designed and documented test cut, such a reputable outfit such as Hermle, that only makes one style machine, would be able to confirm or deny either with phone support, visits or replicating on a similar machine.
