Hurco VM1G Spindle Clamping too slow.

I'm not familiar with your specific machine, but any hydraulic system that both leaks and has entrapped air needs to have the leaks fixed and the air bled out. (There will be a bleed nipple somewhere in your system. Maybe even two.) Slow and/or incomplete clamping and unclamping of the tool is a...

Finding a Used Lathe w/ Sub Spindle?

My SL-200SMC is a year 2000. Basically a Fanuc 18i-TA. Mori has their overlay they call MSC-501. It has full multi column Offsets pages, a Handy Measure and + Input function like many Fanucs of this vintage. Mine also has 6 Work Offsets, Fixed cycles, crash detection, Bar Feed interface, syncro...

Finding a Used Lathe w/ Sub Spindle?

Look at mid-late 90's to mid 20's Mori Seiki SL-150SMC or SL-200SMC. Nice, fast way machines. Servo driven Turret is full live. Solid machine. Fanuc control. Parts catcher. Tool Pendent-(never use mine. Too much hassle. These days should be well under 30k.

    Aluminum endmill, floor finish

It might help to know what machine this is being run on and what it's sitting on. They make end mills with end wiper flats. Could try those. If slowing down works with your setup, then that's what you might just have to do.

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

My 64Meg CF card worked no problem on my 18i lathe. I can see it on my XP too with the ScanDisk reader. I'm not so much concerned about reading what's on them. I mostly want to back up the SRAM on my Fanuc machines. I can see what files are on the card right at the control via the Boot Menu's if...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

Thanks all for the replies. I see it refers to 8 bit or 16 bit memory type. The one website says they no longer have the auto switching so "pick one." Which one??? My main shop host and programming computer is a Pentium 4 XP. I may be halfway home already as far as reading the SRAM cards. I do...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

SRAM help--- I'm running a Fanuc 16MB with a Powermate E handling the Carousel, and an 18MC on another machine.Do these machines run the 8k or 16k bus? And do I need Attribute Memory or not? I don't recall seeing this info in the books. Any idea what size a guy should get? Things seem to read...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

Well I did the alcohol squirt and air blow twice to clean off the pins inside the 18M control card slot, inserted my card into the control, turned the power on to the machine, then held in the two right most Soft Keys to start up the Boot Sequence. Nothing happened in the 20-30 seconds of...

    TREE Journeyman 250 mill

I'll 2nd everything moonlight said. You have a good stiff machine there. I had a 220 which was a smaller 2 axis version of what you have. From here it looks like you have a Dynapath control. That spindle nut looks like an Erickson Quick Change type. Not certain from here.

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

A good bit off subject, but I know some folks in this thread can appreciate such things. My new SH-50 Cabinet. Machine looks a little or a lot rough depending on where you look, but inside the Magnetics cab it looks like the day it was born. Unbelievable really. No covers missing or wires...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

All good news. Thanks tons!! Alcohol will be here Wednesday. A few squirts. A few blows, then have at it with more backup. How did you know my card was siting in a drawer for months! :-)

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

Think I'll get some of that alcohol and the proper card. Used to always keep the alcohol on hand but it disappeared during Covid. Is this screen suggesting how big of a card I should get? I've heard a little about less is best on these old cards and Fanucs. EDIT IN: What's this about a battery...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

It's up and running on reboot. Yeaaa! Is it okay to plug that card in while it's up or do it while it's shut down?? Thanks.

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

Thanks tons Vancbiker. I'll try a restart first. If that fails I'll try the card. Is the one in the pic proper for this? I used this on my 18i lathe were the slot is next to the screen. Saved out from the lathe what it would accept. The lathe files are still on there which I can recapture later...

Fanuc 18MC 916 DRAM Parity Error Recovery Help

As the title says, my mid/late 90's Mori Seiki SV50 just dropped a 916 bomb on me. I have Parameter backups but have never inserted a card into the slot to back up whatever is available there. LED's on Main Control say RAM Parity error on Main CPU. I read to Restart with RESET and DELETE held...

Formaldehyde Off Gassing - Delrin VS Acetal Copolymer User Experiences

The door is a long way off from this machine. And it's not my roof to put a hole in. The fancy charcoal filter fan I bought helps, but the latest news is I have the customer considering switching to plain Acetal. I'll likely know something in a couple weeks. The engineer noticed correctly that...

Drill break though on angled surface. Any suggestions?

Don't have my constants cheat sheet with me, but I think the tip of that drill (thinking 135 deg) is going to be about 0.13 long. Program or set your stop accordingly. No need to run it out any further than you have to. (Unlike the example picture.) It will make a small complaining noise...

Flatness_Parallelism and Size All A Once Against Datum - Am I thinking this right?

Conclusion thoughts. Shoot me down if you think I'm missing the mark. I've realized that System 1 in the original post is correct after all. In a sense, little about the 0.040 deep shelf has anything to do with size or location, as it is part Reference Plane Zero. It is the Datum that has to be...
