    Lathe Placement in Shop

I have currently oriented it at a 45 to tje corner with the headstock about 6' from the corner. Most work will be done 2" or less from the chuck, and I rarely use stock longer than 24". I may place the Logan parallal to the Hardinge about 3' away. 18" to 24" work benches along the walls for...

    Hardinge DSM59 Leveling

My Hardinge DSM59 appears to only have 1 adjustable foot, the right rear. Is this correct? I have also seen that leveling on these lathes is not super critical due the manner in which the lathe is mounted to the bed with 3 support points. Am I reading that correctly?

    Lathe Placement in Shop

In anticipation of wiring my Hardinge DSM59 I must decide on its placement. The allocated space is a corner of 2 open, windowless walls at the front of the shop. One wall is about 9' long from the corner to the overhead door. How should the lathe be best positioned relative to the walls? Face...

    VFD for Hardinge DSM-59

Will the direction of rotation of the idler motor indicate the direction of rotation of the spindle motor? inside the control box, incoming line 1L1 connects to H1 on the control transformer, and it is jumpered to H3. Lead 1L3 is connected to H4 on the transformer, which is jumpered to H2...

    5HP motor for RPC Idler

As I already own the Doerr, it can't hardly get much cheaper. We'll find out how loud it is once the control panel arrives. I'll put it outside in its own enclosure if it is too loud...

    VFD for Hardinge DSM-59

    VFD for Hardinge DSM-59

If I can find it, I have a 5hp 3ph motor that could serve as an idler..... that would leave me needing to purchase a controller. I am uncertain about the start procedure, tho. Maybe the control provides the starting function? i can't see myself pull starting my RPC idler..... Could I wire the...
