    Thanks guys. I'll have 2" of stock to clamp onto in the vice so it shouldn't move. For the open pockets I'll try a nice sharp HSS end mill. I'm taking material off the top too and I think I'll try my 2" Coromill with aluminum inserts there. Edit: Does 150sfm and .010IPT sound reasonable?

    Which cutting tool for internal sphere turning

    Without getting into custom tooling, I'd probably drill, bore, then use a full radius 90° groover to get most of the sphere and then use a small VNMG to finish the far end where the groover doesn't fit. The VNMG might be able to finish the whole sphere if there is enough offset.

    Holding .0002" position between bored holes.

    I shot off an email to verify the tolerances. They also want .0005" profile tolerance of the machined flat surfaces after welding so I think this maybe be a bit over-engineered. I believe the bores will have bearings pressed in so I can see the need for holding alignment but not to this degree.
