A question for the lathe guys

There are calculations out there, we are just too lazy to post them. The basics of the calculations can be looked up in the Roark & Young book called "Calculations for Stress & Strain." Think that is the name. I'm too lazy to get up out of my recliner and go to my office and look it up. Some...

A question for the lathe guys

Can you imagine a 50 foot long of 7/32" dia. spring wire unwinding when the coil is broke loose? Talking about getting a whipping!

B&S 2L Surface grinder oil pump help

I don't have any "easy to find" pictures of mine. I sure I can take the top half of this Chinese one, less the tank and put it in place of the Bijur one on my grinder. May have to make some sort of adapter plate to make it work, as long as it doesn't stick up too high and interfere with the...

1" - 8 "Furrow- Thread" ???? What does Furrow mean?

Zoom in on the drawing and you can see the cable size it is made for. Wondering if this is used on high voltage transmission lines out there?

    Selling surplus bearings

Can you list some of the bearing numbers here? Even though they are rather big for my needs, there maybe someone else here that maybe interested in them.

FS: HSS/ cobalt endmills, small to large, angle and radius

Don't get me wrong, they are usable. At least they haven't been resharpened about eight times and still usable. Dad brought one home many years ago, it was a 1" and had close to 6" of flute length. It was resharpened, almost to the bottom of the flutes. His comment was "Don't look at a gift...

B&S 2L Surface grinder oil pump help

Mine has a small canister filter that Bijur used to sell that is mounted on the outside of the machine. It filters the oil before going out to the distribution blocks. Here's a lubricator pump I'm thinking of...

threading a block too heavy for the table

I've tapped both 1"-8 and 1-1/4"-7 by hand when I was much younger, and it wasn't fun back then. I wouldn't attempt it today. I have some BIG taps here Matt sent to me. They will only make unusual door stops.

FS: HSS/ cobalt endmills, small to large, angle and radius

Thanks Matt. The only ones I could use are the 3/4", 16, and 20 mm shank. But they look like they are on the dull side to me.

B&S 2L Surface grinder oil pump help

My 1980 version of the 2l grinder has a Bijur electric driven pump. I don't recall the CC's it pumps, maybe 5 to 7 cc's a minute. maybe more. It's a continuous flow pump. If it ever dies, there are hundreds of Asian built one's that one of them will take its place.

    Tapping Thread Depth

I'D tap it 5/8 deep, so that way I wouldn't have to run two taps in the hole.

    Brown & Sharpe Taper #12 and #13

I have a old mill arbor here that came off of a B & S No. 3 mill I used to have. It is a No. 11 B & S taper shank and the arbor OD is 1.250" x about 16" give or take. It's rusty but can clean up decently. If interested let me know. Ken

Surprisingly, your mill is in very nice condition for it's age. Thanks for sharing, Ken
