    The parts are essentially bullet jackets. So being small cups they will Have oil from stamping on the inside. We are sure we need to tumble wash them so a regular washing machine on a hot cycle with plain dish detergent is a possibility. We have also considered detergent washing in big buckets...

    Mate generally sideways but I know it's not ideal, i'm going to try one with a shoulder and try to drop it straight in.

    Hey man yeah, problem is where the diameter reduces at the square shoulder from 9.5 to 5.5mm when I quench it, the pin bends at the shoulder. Just trying to remove the step after tempering where I have to turn it down to final D. Adds time and makes truing it up a pain. Thanks -I'll chase up...

From factory we could slip some decent feeler gauges in there on the back edge. We had to basically take a lot of stuff off it, but noted when the cross slide was moved...

    I see your point. I really don't have enough indicators to go on, I can only measure of the saddle, and off the chuck/workpiece/test bar. I get what you are saying now and probably responded when I was full of frustration and I apologise for coming off gruff. Certainly not my normal personality...

    The lathe is brand new. The surface I indicated off was ground with the Vway. It's literally the same part of the way, just the vertical section. The saddle tapers in on the way, it's clearly twisted or hasn't been machined straight. Technician is coming out tomorrow.

    So i've spent all day inspecting and messing with this. Finally running a mic down the V bed on the side closest to me. It's 0 all the way till about 2 inches from the gap, then shoots out 0.05mm. Within 2 inches. I've never seen anything like it... I recorded a video and sent it to the vendor...

    So further to this, I spoke with the dealer that is talking to the importer. I measured the gap block and it measures in at 19.06 where the bed only measures in at 19.00. With the alignment pins in it runs out with visable light under a straight edge. I think this lathe is just bodgey as F***...

    Here is the casting and the pins. Man they are in there, I might drill the casting or try to get these pins out... I think the bolt force should be enough to hold it. Thoughts?

    So I've removed that section and found 2 alignment pins, they are threaded in and you can see them offset 45* to each other (holes in the top) that go into the casting below... I believe they are out of square to the rest of the way. So do I lap out the holes to move it into position or just...
