Mitutoyo or Acu-Rite 2 Axis DRO,.....Any Concerns with either?

I run 9 Mitutoyo systems both older and newer with Flawlessly service. Great tech support as well after a major Power surge issue a few years back.

    Millrite Mill

Seems I recall adding a sleeve bushing to the elevation screw on my Millrite yrs ago due a similar problem. Limited the knee lift by 1" but solved the weak issue as I recall. Sure do miss that little Mill as well!!

Reversing the reading on an older Mitutoyo DRO?

All of my older Mitutoyo units have reverse switches inside as eKretz shows. You need to check inside cases anyway for leaking backup batteries

Brand new LeBlond lathe push back issues

That's an interesting thought; would have to agree that he was probably buying the Makino named machines. I believe R K Leblond has been bought out under several different names over that last 2 decades or so. Just very sad these current production machines these days can't hold their own...

Brand new LeBlond lathe push back issues

Someone else will have to speak regarding the quality of the new Leblonds but I can say I bought 15 x 30 and 15 x 84 Square head Leblonds; 1970's vintage several yrs ago from a Lifelong Machinist in N Georgia and the gentleman called me back 5 months later and asked if I would be willing...

What Lathe does this follow rest go with???

Dale, I believe we determined that version to fit possibly a Cincinnati Hydroshift. I have an exact same model that appears to go with maybe a 19" machine. Another member was looking for a smaller size. Send a PM and we can compare dimensions to see if yours matches or is smaller than...

    K&T Vertical Head for Adcock & Shipley(Textron/Bridgeport) 1esg

Teddy, I agree with Mark, I've only run across one Adcock Shipley 1ES in 25 yrs, and I own it now. Move on to a true vertical mill and keep that fine machine set up for what it was intended for. Accessories for these older machines were out there 50 yrs ago but are nonexistent these days...

    Gorton 2-28 woes.

I believe there's one of those Gorton nmtb 40 quick change arbors in our misc pile at the shop if you determine you have a use for it. As much trouble as you're having getting it to release, it is definitely sounding more like a B & S taper. Used to hate those. I ran into a B S (SYOZ)...

    Lodge & Shipley 26" ?

My two older L & S's will swing just over 15" for the 14" model; 18 1/2" on the 16" and I believe the 20" PT will push at least 22" if I recall. Guess they didnt want anyone to OVERSTRESS they're light duty machinery!!!:D

My Lodge & Shipley 16" Model A freebie

Good luck with the new beast. I run 2 of those regularly and have completely rehabbed the 1941 version. We have some misc parts laying that may get you out of trouble with missing pics. Johnny

Spindle rotation direction opposite to carriage lever on new lathe.can this be right?

A very fine machine you have there! Not sure i ever saw that Hydro-- version of Monarch out there!! I would have to believe there is some form of adjustment to close that distance on the lever travel for braking! Had my eyes on a Model 61yrs ago; sure hate that one slipped through my...

Spindle rotation direction opposite to carriage lever on new lathe.can this be right?

The 3 Lodge and Shipley's here rule the Roost ; although mechanical clutch, are Up for forward and down to Stop. If the Leblonds here want to play on this Team, they are wired to match or they can sit out the game on the Bench!! Ha Guess it's really is a preference issue with electrical models

    Food safe adhesive for teak?

As mentioned; an oil tolerant Epoxy is the best route! Installed a Teak stair casing and Handrail system 40 yrs ago and we used Acetone to clean all mating surfaces of oil residue before applying adhesives. All seems to be still holding well !!

OT how do I figure out how tall my house is?

I agree with Boslab; you may find out your butt pucker factor may be greater than you expected! Haa I ran up and down 100' Arial Ladders in the Fire Service for 15 yrs back in the 80' routinely. Rented a 45' lift 4 yrs ago to trim limbs for 2 day weekend. 2 days later, I still couldn't 'pass'...
