    you may want to consider ATF in gearbox for 50 or so hours--I bought 50 gallon drum of mercon 2 and use it for everything-the 55 year old box is certain to have a degree of sludge--if the box has oil gallery threaded port attach pressure gage and measure pressure in all speed ranges plus motor...
