    Running coolant pump with vfd

Thanks for all the input. I will advise on how it works. Just going to try wiring the vfd straight to the pump. Joe

    Tos Trens spindle bearing lubrication

Thanks for the reassurance. Almost have the lathe fully installed. I don’t think this one has the funny starter you’re talking about but they made this model for a really long time.

    Tos Trens spindle bearing lubrication

For sure it’s some sort of white grease. There isn’t any zerks on the machine. I spoke with a gentleman from monarch lathes yesterday( they are now a dealer for Tos terns) he said they use this type of lubrication on some cnc spindles. And figures it will have no problems doing 16000hrs. He...

    Tos Trens spindle bearing lubrication

Should I just pump a couple shots of the recommended grease in and call it good? Or completely tare it down, clean and re lube? Or just leave it? Hope some people will chime in. Joe

    Tos Trens spindle bearing lubrication

I see one other thread on this subject with no definitive answer. I have a new to me Tos Trens sn32. I’m going through the machine before fire up because it as been in storage for the last 15 years. The manual is very veg on this, but says that headstock bearings need to be serviced every...

    Running coolant pump with vfd

Ok I’ll test it for amps. I really don’t have anything to loss. It if no use if I can’t run it on 240. Probably cheaper to buy a new pump then have this motor rewired for the correct voltage. I’ll look into a small transformer but my understanding is it have to be transformed before the vfd not...

    Running coolant pump with vfd

This is the reason I asked is the difference between 288v and 240v going to be a problem? Roughly 16.5% lower voltage than requires.

    Running coolant pump with vfd

Trying to get my new to me Tos sn32 up and running, I have a 220v main motor and vfd ordered. Just wondering if it would be acceptable to run this coolant pump wired for the lower voltage on 240v with a small vfd. I only have 240v single phase available. Thanks for the help and sorry for my...

    Mazak 18x80 VFD drive conversion

Yes for sure. The switches are buried behind the feed gear box and would require complete disassembly to access. Good news is you can find the wires that go to the switches on the terminal blocks in the electrical compartment under the feed gear box and easily make a connection there. Just...

    Mazak 18x80 VFD drive conversion

I'm not sure if we are aloud to talk about manual Mazak lathes in this part of the forum. But I just did this conversation on my similar vintage 21x100 Mazak.

A question about single phase input on vfd

Well thanks for the info. I'm thinking it looks like I'm going to have to rewire a the lathe to make it work with the vfd. Might just start looking for a rotophase or maybe I can make a primitive one if I can find a 15hp motor to use. Joe

A question about single phase input on vfd

It looks like a good sultion. I think that I would like to try and get close to full power but if all else fails. Thanks Joe

A question about single phase input on vfd

I don't think that I would care much if the speed control portion didn't work. Realistically it could be a couple of years before I move to a shop with three phase power. Most of the newer shops around here are 575 there are some around with 230. I've never seen one with 480. I have a...
