OT: Diabetes awareness, what would you do?

I can’t believe it took this long for somebody to tell me I’m wrong. Main purpose of online forums I guess. I’ve only been a diabetic for 30 plus years. No way I could know more about it than somebody’s link.

    Dry air before compressor pump?

Mine has both an inter cooler between stages and this second coil after the second stage and before the tank. No drain on this coil.

OT: Diabetes awareness, what would you do?

You can’t catch diabetes. It is a failure of the pancreas. Eating less carbs/sugar helps control it. Has nothing to do with getting it. Also, when your sugar gets low, you may need 3 little debbies and a real coke to get back home. The guy you saw may have been in that situation. Don’t ask how...

    OK thanks.

    Dry air before compressor pump?

Not to hijack, but I got a surplus Ingersoll Rand T30 which has a heat exchanger coil in the line between second stage and tank. It was used to operate dampers in a HVAC system on a large building. This coil receives air at the top, hooks to tank at bottom, has no drain on coil. Looking at...

How many gallons actually fit in a 55-gallon drum?

I am most impressed that this many souls still have the math and geometry skills to calculate and discuss this issue. I would expect “my phone says 55 gallons”. I always want to say”people like me wrote what’s in your phone”.

How many gallons actually fit in a 55-gallon drum?

Coolant and water might not be the same weight. Maybe a new driver read 58 on the stick as 68.

price of a container drops 80%

Jeff Foxworthy needs to add these to “You may be a redneck if you live/work/store your ammo in a cargo container”. I saw some fireworks stands last summer with just a sales window cut out the front of the container. Talk about shrapnel in a fire. What could go wrong?

    Sebastian Metal lathe

Might also look here for info. https://groups.io/g/sheldonlathe They were used a lot in WW 2. Every submarine had one. Lots of schools had them. Seems most have been scrapped. Many many made, not sure why so rare now.

    Sebastian Metal lathe

Most of them (mine is one) have a 2. 1/8 x 8 TPI spindle. Kinda rare, but I just bought one today. Can bore out. 1 1/2 and rethread, but rare on the new and used market. I have been looking for parts for a month or so for a Model H. Chuck at DC Morrison will send you a parts book, but they have...

Anybody know what these are used for

Thing on far left is a hydraulic valve. Thing on the far right is a 220 electric plug, probably 50 amp.

    RPC pull start issue

An old book I have somewhere says 40 to 70 mfd of run capacitor per idler hp. Adjust to somewhere in between.

    RPC pull start issue

I have one like that. Only starts cw with rope and no start caps. Only starts ccw with start caps in line. And with no load volts are everywhere.

The chuck with this lathe is original to the lathe I think. Missing a chuck key. I tried a 1/2 inch ratchet. Not 1/2 square, not 3/8. Is there a standard for SAE tooled lathe chucks? Maybe 7/16?

    Sebastian Lathe info

Bigger question is how much to fill it. Will measure what I drain out but it is barely above the plug. Standpipe is gone. Gears on lower shaft seem to splash up on everything else.

    Sebastian Lathe info

I pulled the gearbox cover off and the gears are tight, in good shape and shift fine. The guy at DC Morrison said use 30 wt oil, but it has 90 wt gear oil in it. It is supposed to have an oil level standpipe indicator attached to the plug but it only has the plug. Debating how much oil to add...
