Okuma LB15 stuck chuck on spindle taper

Hello all, we've recently got an Okuma LB15 CNC-Lathe but unfortunately the previous owners heard about maintenance and service only from hear-saying. I'm disassembling the machine now to clean, maintain and paint the covers and I'm stuck now with a stuck chuck on the spindle taper. The chuck...

CNC Lathe Tailstock light not lighting up and looses pressure

A little update to my problem. With a Service technician we've found out that in front of the tailstock is a cover. Inside is a kind of cam and a sensor. When you put a Workpiece in and clamp it with the tailstock the light doesn't go on and it's loosing pressure. But when you loosen a setscrew...

    Pipe bowing while turning OD

I wanted to give an update to my problem. The welders couldn't relieve it and I've although talked with a heat treating company and they couldn't do it either because the temperatures which were necessary are too high. When we investigated the problem we've found that the pipe was actually...

    Pipe bowing while turning OD

It's only 1 Pipe which I have to turn down. I'll talk with the welders if they can relieve it.

    Pipe bowing while turning OD

Hi, I've never tried to stress relieve something but I can ask our welders if they can do it. I can try to reduce the pressure of the tailstock but I'm wondering because it didn't happen with the prior cuts. Chucking half way is not easy because the Pipe has a bigger diameter than the hole...

    Pipe bowing while turning OD

Hi All, As I've mentioned in the Title I have a problem to turn the OD of a stainless steel Pipe. It's a 3.5 Sch40 Pipe. I've put the Pipe between 2 Bull Nose Cones and wanted to turn (true) the OD of the Pipe. I've took light cuts on the OD because the overall length of the Pipe is 48 inches...

CNC Lathe Tailstock light not lighting up and looses pressure

I don't think so. Did you measure it or did you see it? Was it visible to see that the TS moved? Anyway I'm just on the way to take the valves apart and look if hey are sticky or worn.

CNC Lathe Tailstock light not lighting up and looses pressure

Hi Douglas, the pump has full pressure and the hoses are looking good too. Hydraulic Level is ok. I guess you are right with the directional valves. Do you have an idea where I can look for them? I guess they are somewhere directly at the tailstock.

CNC Lathe Tailstock light not lighting up and looses pressure

Hello Guys, I'm wondering if somebody can give me a hint where I can look for my problem with the Tailstock on my NISSIN NSK40/150 CNC Lathe. When I clamp a WP with the hydraulic Tailstock it first clamps the WP but looses pressure after some time. The Pressure gauge shows me 220PSI but after...

Fanuc 6T G76 single line code gives an error

Yes I will change that but it was just my first Thread on a CNC so I wanted to be safe. I keep it at 3" overhang, max 3.5 x D. If I have some time I will try that. Thanks Regards Bodo

Fanuc 6T G76 single line code gives an error

Hi William, That's the way I do now if the simulation doesn't show me what I need to know. I although do the first run with a part with single block and watch the position where it tells "way to go". graphics function would be nice to have but 1984 it wasn't available. Regards Bodo

Hi Doug, yes, that I already found out. Regards Bodo

Fanuc 6T G76 single line code gives an error

Hi Bill, thanks for your advice. As I mentioned in a different Thread I am new to the CNC stuff and I'm trying to handle the machine just by practical learning, Youtube, Practical Machinist aso. I didn't get a course in this and I have nobody else to ask questions I have. Not an easy situation...

Fanuc 6T G76 single line code gives an error

Hi, I've tried around and the error came from the D-value. I had D.020 and I got the error (program). When I changed the value to D0200 it cuts the Thread without error. It seems that to go with decimals is ok except the value for D for the first cut depth. In the operators manual is an...

Fanuc 6T G76 single line code gives an error

Hi, I'm trying to find the right syntax for the G76 cycle on a Fanuc 6T. I wrote this but I get an alarm message with just program but I don't know what is wrong. The alarm pops up when the G76 Part is reached. I wanna make a UNS 2-10 Thread. Here's my code: % TABLE-POST THREAD UNS 2-10 O1500 N1...

how to program a gear change while using CSS

I think you mean: Life's a bitch ;-) I saw last time a nice speech: Life is sucking, otherwise you fall off (the planet). Last time I did a indicator holder for the chuck and my first attempt was in the wrong gear and the speed was too slow. I did it again with the highest gear and the look at...

how to program a gear change while using CSS

I was a little bit confused but now I got what you mean. In the case what I have just to do is a crowned pulley. So I have to face and bore both sides first and make the crown on the OD. For the crown on the OD I have to hold the pipe between centres. It's a mess. Making 1 side, flip it...

how to program a gear change while using CSS

Hi, do I have to face from the centre to do this or can I get the same when I start from the OD? A bit wondering. Of course for facing I don't need all 50 horses working. ;-) Regards Bodo

how to program a gear change while using CSS

Hi Bill, Ya the machine is from 1984. The machine has 3 clutches controlled by 2 solenoids. So I assume I have to calculate up to where the starting speed range ends, make the gear change by command and go on cutting. When starting with 12 inch OD then something like G01 X8. F (whatever) M39...
