    1977 Agie 15 motor specs

Looking for some specs on these motors from a 1977 Agie 15 wire EDM. Label shows Sigma Instruments Inc., 20-4247TD-23496 7 leads including case ground, resistance between the grouped leads in +/-2 ohms. Does anyone have data on these?

CHNC2/FANUC10 EX50 alarm is back again.

This alarm has been popping up every so often and has gone away before we've found the problem, and here it is in the middle of a job that is very special to my shop. This time I'd really like to solve it. The message is EX50 Lube Pump Failure, causes singleblock action only. The manual...

    Parting out Hardinge CHNC2+

I wish I'd had that opinion before doing all I've done to get this CHNC2 working. As soon as I can swing into something else mines going away too.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

Hello, gents. You've been busy here while I'm not getting notices about it. First off, to clear up and suspicions, the "1/2"-5 Acme 2 start" comes right from the print. I'm not making any changes to that in typing it here. Marcus, the only thing I noted about your dimensions is that the callout...

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

That's pretty cool. I don't know on the material choice yet.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

I figured milling was likely out of the question. Pitch and lead is one of the details I'm waiting on.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

I was told today the parts are steel. 350pcs of this one, 350 of 2 others and 700 of another in the same quote. I have a Hardinge CHNC2 and a small turret lathe and engine lathe to work with. If a cutter for it can be found, and if thread milling would work, the MC4VA Okuma would be used. Seems...

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

How well do you guys think a single piece double tap with a straight groove profile to full bottom depth and width, with a second tap on the same body with the full acme profile would work?

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

Thank you for your help, Marcus. I'll ping them Monday and discuss it.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

Wow. The making of appropriate taps is considerably more than I can handle, I'm sure. I have used a surface grinder exactly twice, and that is only because it was payment for cleaning out a widow's machine shop situation.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

If I'm following you I'm wondering the same thing. Run the thread with a grooving tool to depth then come again with the Acme tool, or tools if needed. Even a double tap with a shallow, then full depth groove profile, then a second tap for the acme profile?

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

    That's what I'm wondering too.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

Going over this more I'm wondering if it's not a 1/2"-10pitch double and they are calling it a 5 pitch in a mix up. There isn't even one single 1/2"-5 acme tap or thread bar for single lead that I can find. I see some 1/2"-6tpi acme. The root for a 1/2"-5acme looks to be at 0.28"? That won't...

I didn't look, I called the number and got a medic alert sales pitch.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

The job is 350 pcs, and she can't tell me what material. LOL Still working on that. The small hand vise product pictured shows a silver screw(also 350 pcs), but I'm thinking guide her towards a bronze nut if possible. Nuts also get knurled on the OD.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

Relieving the rear of a standard bar is pretty much what I'm thinking now too. So far.

Tooling for a 1/2"-5 Acme double start internal thread 1.25" long

I'm finding nothing on tooling for this, and a few major cautions that it isn't doable in tap form. I'd be using the alternating cut P3 in G76 if single pointing. But right now I'm fairly stumped on a tool for it??
