How to generate a toolpath in Fusion 360 using a simulator app as your machine?

From the looks of the dialog, you have already designated the post you want to use (located in the Fusion Library). Go to the top of the dialog and hit the copy icon. Now click on 'local' under My Posts and hit the paste icon at the top of the dialog. Post should now be in local where you should...

    Fusion 360 Turning

barratt, Fusion has cycles for its Roughing Profile....but can't fold in the few lines needed to include the finish pass. So, we program our rough profiles with a cycle and add a single finish profile pass - few more lines of code, but not much. We had to wait on cycles being added as...

Fusion 360 My machine not in library list

Rob, I don't believe so. Saying you have live tooling makes me think 'Mill-Turn' post (assume you have c-axis indexing as well). There are no generic posts for HAAS under mill/turn. My suggestion would be to post to a) the Fusion 360 manufacturing forum and see if any one can comment on what...

Fusion 360 My machine not in library list

Rob, The HAAS SL-20 appears to be an older lathe that is no longer being made. If you google Autodesk Post Library and set the filters for 'Turning', 'HAAS', etc. you will get a series of posts for newer machines and the generic HAAS Turning Post. Presumably this generic post will be the one to...

    Smog Hog(s) for sale

Ok, time for a price reduction....will take ~$2,000.00 for the newer Smog Hog. Or, if you take both, will let the newer one go for $1,500.00. Contact info remains the same. Thanks.

    New Machine Day

Ox, The tool carousel doesn't move. The spindle retracts up inside the carousel to accept tools and then extends as needed. I know the perspective makes things look a little tight, particularly given the rather large size of the carousel itself. Fred

    New Machine Day

SND, Reason I included that picture of the tool changer is, when I walked up to the machine and opened the doors, I was amazed by the size of the tool carousel - in particular the fact that it is only 0.1sec slower than the 20tool changers. I think 28 tools is an option now on almost all Brother...

    New Machine Day

empower, Given the regard we have for the Yamazen sales group that we deal with, I will respectfully decline :). What I will say is the quote we received was VERY reasonable...no negotiations needed. Fred

    New Machine Day

Ox, Machine has 15in of travel in Z axis. Table to nose of spindle range is 5.9in - 20.9in. Fred

    New Machine Day

Over the last few years, our load of big plate work has grown quite a bit. Large aluminum (Mic-6, and the like) plates, 2.5ft x 1.5ft, with 300+ tapped holes for microscope stages, baseplates, and optical breadboards needed to be done in quantity. As the quantities ramped up it swamped our first...

    Smog Hog(s) for sale

Was finally able to get pics that would attach properly. The serial number plate is from the newer Smog Hog. Just realized, would be good idea to give our location ;-) We're located in northern Marin County (north of the Golden Gate) at the confluence of Highway 101 and Highway 37 - south...

    Smog Hog(s) for sale

For sale: two Smog-Hog mist collectors. Quick history….one unit has been in shop use for at least 20yrs. It still works, but may need some clean-up or TLC. The second unit is quite new and has seen very little use. When the second unit was installed it was connected to two Fadals for a short...

    New CNC 5 axis

Hi Matt, With respect to your question about how difficult is Heidenhain to learn, I would direct you to either Heidenhain's website or Youtube for basic videos about Heidenhain programming. Personally, I don't find it difficult. If I were to be supervising a significant number of...

    New CNC 5 axis

Hi Matt, When I first started to read you post, my thoughts immediately went to a Brother U500Xd1-5AX. Since you mention the M300xd1, I assume you are already familiar with the Brother line. Seems to me the work envelop of the M300 would be limiting. The U500 can take bigger pieces, and a dual...

    Trak CNC 2

Thad, Well, that one dates from the mid/late 1980's. If you go to the Southwestern Industries website to Service and Parts Retrofits, then to the manuals link and look at the Service and Installation section, you will see service documentation on that model (I believe). Sorry I can't help...

    fusion 360 or something better?

Hi Dave, We were Featurecam users until we had a chance to beta test Delcam for Solidworks starting, I think, end 2011 or early 2012. It was finally released to the public in late 2012. It had some basic HSM paths derived from Powermill and could handle 2.5axis, 3 axis simultaneous and 5 axis...

    fusion 360 or something better?

Nerv, Just a historical note....it wasn't Powermill, it was Featurecam. After Delcam acquired Featurecam, they folded a version into Solidworks called Delcam for Solidworks. And, yes, it was an excellent CAD/CAM combination. When Autodesk acquired Delcam they asked themselves why they had...

    Machine Stops Mid Cycle

Hi Steve, I can not tell you exactly why it happens, but it has to do with the G-codes for plane switching (G17,G18,G19). The Fagor (and other controls such as our Fadals) sometimes have problems with the switch. What I will suggest in the future is this - make 0in. the default for all those...

    Machine Stops Mid Cycle

Steve, Set the VERTICAL Leadin to 0in. and see if the code will then run completely. Fred
