    Okuma Soarer L270

There is one for sale local to me. It's a 1999 machine. Still powered up so I could see it running. Never run an Okuma lathe before, only a Doosan Lynx with a Fanuc controller, and then not for that long. Are they easy enough to operate? Sturdy and reliable? I'm totally fine on manual lathes...

    New Machine Day

Well I finally wrote out the big cheque today for the DEM, auger, wash down gun, through spindle coolant, Renishaw tool and work probing, and a 4th axis. Everything except Ezi Guide. ETA 5-6 months. @rklopp do you use cam on your machine? Wondering which post processor to use from Fusion 360...

Thank you for the info about the auger mouth. Sorry to be a pain, but do you know the height the bin needs to be to fit under the mouth? So I can start looking for something. In Australia we don't typically use what I'm imagining is a fairly decent size kitchen trash can. I would like a DNM...

With the auger, does the bin it empties into stick outside of the machine footprint? How far off a wall would that side of the need the machine to be so you could move the bin out for cleaning? I'm going to get TSC, and holders that can have either through the tool or around the tool spray, so...

@rklopp @Miller846 do you guys have the basic chip / swarf bin, or the auger, or the conveyor? Which ever one you have, is it a chore cleaning the machine? Do you wish you had got a different option?

    Colchester lathe

They were made between 1957 and 1983. That one has had the variator stripped off it, which is a shame, and no tail stock either?

Thank you for this, which has made up my mind. I was leaning towards not getting EZ Guide, as I have never used conversational programming, and I do use CAM, so I'll do as you say and put the EZ Guide money towards other things that I will give me a better return.

Do you have EZ Guide? Or do you know which controller you have as I was told there are 2 - the basic one and a different / better one for Ez Guide. Or did the Renishaw GUI come with it because you optioned the probe and tool setter? Do you have the probe / tool setter and GUI on both machines or...

    New Machine Day

I have been brought up on CAM too, I have never programmed a machine with conversational programming and wouldn't know where to start with it either, I've always used Inventor and now Fusion 360. So if EzGuide is basically only for conversational programming, then I will save the money and not...

    New Machine Day

I got a quote last week from the DN dealer in Australia, and they gave me the option of the DEM 4000 with or without Easy Guide. Said if I get Easy Guide it will take longer to build the machine because it requires a different controller for Easy Guide than the standard non Easy Guide machine...

Do you use a Renishaw / other brand probe, or a manual Haimer etc for workpiece setting? What about tool setting? I'm getting closer to ordering a DEM, just need an electrician to turn up to work out the switchboard electrics.....

    New Doosan DEM 4000

@Miller846 How is the machine going? Are you getting to grips with the controller? Did you get the probe and tool setter working? Overall thoughts of the whole machine?

Can we get a picture please, and vice model, so we can see how much table space it uses. Do you have a 4th axis on the table too? I've got money coming my way shortly so I will be placing my order for a DEM in the not too distant future.

    New Doosan DEM 4000

Did you get the tool probe working? Do you have a spindle probe for work coordinate setup?
