Glad to hear that you got some good results that your happy with, I was wondering if you got the solid state pressure control to play nice with your VFD inputs, sounded like you needed to interface it with a dry contact to get it to function the way you wanted it to. An just remember that the...

    440v surface grinders?!

What is the power supply you have to work with?, and do you have any links for the machines your considering? It's a pretty vague request as worded. 220/440V was more of a vernacular back in WWII times. 230/460V or 240/480V would be more in line with the specification that would be used today...

Well it seems that matched belt sets are getting more rare now, unless special ordered at the time of placing an order. Matched marked sets, were to indicate belts were from the same mold and batch, and factory measured to comply with tolerance specifications as to their length. It appears that...

Does a modern single phase motor have a start winding?

Here is a cut sheet for the Sinpac motor starting switches. There are more installation instruction pages but that should be enough for what you need.

You must have some small feet to have a shoe box smaller than a mechanical pressure switch enclosure. : - ) But honestly I took a brief look at the SMC digital models and it has a 35 page selection and programming cut sheet. I can now understand why your having issues getting it to play...

Good to see your moving along, with resistance. Now acknowledging the problem. Old fashioned contact points really aren't that bad, especially on something like a plain Jane compressor. You could have both pressure controls plumbed in, if the digital gauge is that important. I'm partial to the...

I've been suspecting your solid state pressure control for a while now, but you haven't mentioned it, in a long while now. Your drive tweaking has proven that it's capability is not the issue to me. It's been telling you that V/H simple mode works fine except for a restart without a fault. The...

Order belts only in matched sets, there are batch set numbers printed on them, refuse belts that are not from a matched set.

If your wrist has no calibration on it, cut your tool in half in the center of the hex’ and then use the socket with a torque wrench. I don’t think putting a crowa foot wrench on the end of your torque wrench is going to be meaningful. Tight enough to crush the washers and ensure a seal...

Looks nice and clean and well polished and leak free. I still would suspect the failed snap ring from the phosphoric acid treatment, that is similar to my experience on spring steels.I think it's a good thing it failed before it got back in service, that could have been much worse. For the pipe...

I might be inclined to use the old drive at first, since it has new caps, and you know that one, to see if the the valve leakage was the issue all along. Still need to test that tank check valve for leakage once it's up and running. No nuts for you, until you get it done.

Be cautious about getting phosphoric acid on springs and spring steel parts. I have had them break in half after getting them wet with it during cleaning before. Looks like you got it all cleaned and lapped up. Would be curious to see inside that valve body where the inner seat area was too low...

I think that aome rust in the head would be somewhat normal, your pumping humid air through there, some of it at times will be condensing. The crankcase vent is supposed to be piped into the head cavity, to leave an oil film to help keep the iron with a film, to help prevent rusting. For the...

Looks like a different manufacturer of the casting (aftermarket replacement) webs are different, as is wall thickness, then the seal surface is too low. Likely from the last rebuild. You need a lot more grinding or a replacement. And it’s not the one that you had to chisel on. So at this...

Good ting you decided to pull them out instead of trying to lap them in place, I'm sure that now you see what a fallacy that would have been. Kind of like the last re-builder beating them out without a removal tool. I That makes it pretty clear where your back pressure source was coming from...

was that mangled copper sealing washer om the high side valves? Now that you have it apart, and can see what you need, will be the hunt to find the proper parts. How about the valve insert bodies, can you lap them properly now that their out? how did their sealing surface rings look before you...
