I really do get good fast cutting though, nice curls as well. Don't know the speed, I am using the sb9 with the leather belt, motor to the big pulley is on the fast setting and the belt in the center position. So it's not slow or in back gears. I could try the fastest speed. I just know I am... -

The inserts I was using are .086 When the last two go I will have a new HSS set up. I will keep tabs on how many cuts I get before the next one cracks. -

10-24 broken bolt in expensive injection mold
Forgot to ask, exactly what brand of extractor are you referring too, do you have a link? I took my truck to a guy that had some German made extractor for spark plugs that he was able to extract completely rusted off plugs with after I mucked it up trying to get them out with the dumb... -

Thanks for all the suggestions, I just called him and he want's me to contact Porschefix or Gordon Eng. to get it fixed. We did use a reverse drill ( I happened to have one that came with a right hand cheap Chinese cheesy set) last time I just touched the top of the bolt and it came spinning... -

Even if you only have manual machines, I just filled up a tank of trim sol for my knee mill CNC a month ago and I think it's great stuff. I use one of these bottles to cool off and lubricate parts while drilling on the lathe or the manual knee mill as well, what a difference in drilling mild...- metron9

SB9 with .009 play along axes do I shim?
Thank's for the link I was about to post I will be searching for the bearing post. I adjusted the nut so that when pulling or pushing with moderate pressure on the chuck there is about .001 movement maximum in either direction. Without an indicator I can't see if there is any play at all and...- metron9

The chuck spindle nut was loose and I measured .009 play. I adjusted it so that I have about .001 when moderate pressure or pulling on the chuck along

SB9 with .009 play along axes do I shim?
I noticed the chuck and spindle have .009 tho of play along the axes of the spindle. I don't think it was this bad a year ago. I see there is a clamp on the gear side of the spindle and I can see the play right there. Should I put a shim between the washer and the clamp nut or do i do something...- metron9

Finally it's up and running. Need to add the Estop button, Limit and home switches. excellorebuild.avi - YouTube Ran the part through a few times. 120IPM motor max program was 60IPM I think Back to zero no steps lost. This is from an old manual letterpress built in the 1800's i should have taken a picture of it before I took the .010 off, you could clearly see the big void as a depression but it had a little metal covering it. Someone else had tried to grind it down in a drill press and used a heavy wire...
