    Thin wall tube bending issues.

First Post here, I normally just look around on here. I have a background in Mandrel Tube Bending and it looks like you have the correct tools for the job but some things out of place. Before I go deep into specifics and spend a good deal of time helping to correct your situation. Please reply...

Things to look for when purchasing

If they do discontinue production of felts, I'll be firing up the water jet. I've never cut it before but I can't imagine any problems beside needing a backer. Travis

As a new South Bend owner I found this thread very helpful. It took me a while to find it and to be confident in what to buy. Lucky me all I need to buy is the DTE 32 and 68. edit: So i guess I never figured out what to put on the gear train (Magnalube G)? so here is my bump to the top Travis

Things to look for when purchasing

Hello Thanks for the info hitandmiss I'll check and see if the gears are riding to close to each other. I ended up purchasing the machine for 2000. I oiled the machine based off of some literature found here. I ran a test cut on a 1.5 316 SS bar. I trued the bar with a .020 cut then made a .010...

Things to look for when purchasing

I got a chance to look at the machine yesterday. I am satisfied with everything I checked, but I was surprised how loud the back gears are. I understand that they are large strait cut gears with very little to deaden the sound. Take a look at the video and tell me what you think. Thanks Travis...

Thanks so much Wayne I have three phase power so a VFD is not needed. I have not yet looked at Steve Wells thread yet because I wanted to thank you first. In my first conversation with the seller I mentioned that I think he is high on his price. His response indicated that he will come off his...

Hello everyone I am considering purchasing this machine to be used restoring antique farm equipment. It just wouldn't be right to have some new (name I cant pronounce) machine in the shop. I am familiar with lathes but have never operated a South Bend or any machine if this vintage. I would...

Paint Material Advice for Machine Tool Restoration

Yes that is beautiful. I no nothing about what to use on a machine tool but I cant think of anyone who might be harder on paint than a farmer/rancher. My grandfather and I used to restore and pull antique tractors which we painted with synthetic enamel. Dragging a chain over the draw bar never...

SolidWorks and win7 64 bit issues

ah the joy of these computers. My friend made the mistake of buying a refurb 32 bit laptop for field work. When he got it he was disappointed to see windows 7 on it. The whole reason for getting the refurbished machine was to get away from windows 7. His story sound similar to yours, but he has...

    feed clutch adjust screws

I think that the only thing that would achieve tightening the clutch would be to turn the collar. If that is the case then I think the machine has never been adjusted because there is no marks on the area that you would use the screw driver. That or it is very easy to adjust there for no marks...

    feed clutch adjust screws

Okay thanks for the reply. I'm a little more confused now about weather the shaft is going to do the tightening or the nut. I am gonna scetch up a little drawing of what I remember it looking like (forgot the camera). I do understand what you are saying about seeing if it will take up all the...
