Hey all,
as the title says, looking for a leg from a heavy 10 cast iron base
hopefully close enough to the great Metropolis of beautiful Moscow, Ohio for me to pick it up (greater Cincinnati area)
Hope all is well with you fellas
Hey fellas.
Hope all's well with y'all....been out of touch.
anyhoo...it's a long shot but I'm looking for a headstock riser block for what is actually a 9L, (wide bed 9" with 1 3/8" spindle bore)
Its an early incarnation in the progression towards a 10L - it's basically built on the same bed...
do yourself a really big favor and switch the whole compound rest to one for a 9" machine, the one you have appears to be from a 10k
the only functional difference is the 10k rest base is about 1/4" or so thicker so you're not only limited severely with you parting tools, but also every cutting...
those numbers are great...even slightly tighter than what i would shoot for on a machine of that vintage....once under power and that oil film distributes itll be rock solid
if you just stick it back in the headstock casting in the condition you have it now you can tap the end of the shaft with a plastic hammer and at least gain the clearance you need to pull it....might even be enough to knock it loose enough to get it without the puller
are you going to make the countershaft pulleys and shaft as one single piece?
secured to the countershaft frame with the bolt on bearing blocks?
would save some steps in the process, as no drilling/boring operations would be required
is a catch 22...would have likely made all the difference...
but...
it couldnt have happened...
because...
it was a republican president
and furthermore...
it was trump...a small horridly incompetant shell of a man, whos greatest accomplishment was exposing the vileness that the republican...
if it works just use it as is, i wouldnt put a thin dime in it
if not, try to sell the parts and get something else.
just my opinion, you may choose a different course....all good.
