Hey all,
as the title says, looking for a leg from a heavy 10 cast iron base
hopefully close enough to the great Metropolis of beautiful Moscow, Ohio for me to pick it up (greater Cincinnati area)
Hope all is well with you fellas
Hey fellas.
Hope all's well with y'all....been out of touch.
anyhoo...it's a long shot but I'm looking for a headstock riser block for what is actually a 9L, (wide bed 9" with 1 3/8" spindle bore)
Its an early incarnation in the progression towards a 10L - it's basically built on the same bed...
27T idler gear that goes on the selector arm...I have 2 samples, one is .275" and the other is .285"
It's not a critical dimension, but want to be able to give Stephen a good average for his parts drawings.
the mating gears on the cone stack are .315" face width so to avoid interference the...
before I risk shipping something that would be difficult to replace(you know how it is, plenty of shipping horror stories out there).....is there a member in the area that would be interested in assisting me a bit??
asking for help is not something I am accustomed to, it's a very humbling...
I don't recall seeing this before, though my memory may be off....note the separate plate for the reverser detents-
I'm sure there will be more little details that may be a bit "different" as my understanding is this was the first of the large bore 9's.
I know I'm kinda all over the place but I think between members I can get the parts that cross over from the heavy 10 but if I can find them there's a couple things specific to the heavy 9" and and some jrs that I could use.
1- compound
2-steady rest
2- even a complete tailstock if it's better...
Will be needing some small items, hardware and such...will update as I get into it, I know I need apron mounting screws and square head carriage lock screw, that kind of stuff.
Want this one to be period correct, and have no machines anymore to just make it myself.
TIA
For a small machine, the only shops I know of only do bigger stuff...this is a short,3ft bed SB, normally I would not go this far with one but this one is kind of special and will have a special purpose.
at minimum it will need the bed done and the underside of the saddle built up and refitted...
Ted also has an eye out for me(thanks Ted!) but thought I'd ask here too.
this would be for a desk in my house thus the small size.
cant take on a project so needs to be a working machine.
if you have anything that fits the bill let me know, TIA
hope it's just me but tried to search the forum and found there are only 2 pages...everything else is GONE?
If that is the case so much for a searchable database...
I log in and within a few seconds to a couple minutes it logs me out???
The new pop up is playing hell with my iPad too, (the Practical Machinist email pop up)
EDIT- add disappearing and reappearing posts.
we need a good video link of the basic operation, features and controls of the South Bend lathe added to the stickies...
anyone willing? It would be a great service to the forum.
I looked around utube and found nothing suitable and a whole lot just plain wrong.
this fellow really needs help and there hasn't been much response.
just needs someone to sort the stuff out, so it may be sold without the typical "random lot" thing.
I'm sure a mutually beneficial arrangement could be made, he just needs an honest person with a clue...
