More progress - table, table elevation and table lock completed and installed on column. Appreciate any suggestions on filling arc of shame holes.
No more excuses - the head is next.

EDITED 4/23 7:02 - BOTH PARTS FOUND
So for the second time I have been bit by WT's use of a 24 TPI fastener - specifically a 7/16-24 hex jam nut. I can't find this anywhere - as a last resort I could probably make one but that would definitely be a last resort. Anyone have a source for...
Tom - I'll likely be clled a heretic but I cleaned up the base first with a wire wheel followed by wet dry sand paper 80 to 1000 grit then a paste wax. I realize there are going to be folks that will say to never use sand paper on a machined surface but come on - its a drill press - not...
Finally was able to complete something today - got the motor wrapped up and retested - runs like a champ. The motor is huge - it is a 3/4 HP 1140 RPM version of a WT motor and weighs in at 70# - YIKES

Completed

Thanks for the offer - I haven't gotten to the head yet. I do know that on mine there is a chunk broken off the head casting where the motor mounting stud goes in the head - basically where the bolt goes in to hold the motor distance. I think your head is bit different than mine so the cost...
Thanks - but can you educate me - I understand what compression is but what led you to that conclusion? Not questioning your opinion just wondering how you got there?
Thanks
Rick
Another potential [problem. While cleaning up the base I noticed a crack on the underside through one 0f the ribs. See the lower left quadrant behind the column hole
It propagates to the bottom of the rib and goes through the rib.
My gut says leave it alone - it doesn't appear to be...
So I did the highly unrecommended process when cleaning up the column - quick pass with a knotted wire wheel, followed by 80 to 1000 grit with - dare I say - sand paper and then some paste wax. before and after
Still lots of scars and some staining but its the best I could do without even...
I agree - just can't convince myself yet that the extra air is worth it. I'm getting to the point age wise where this whole rebuild/restore thing is going to slow down. :)
While in waiting mode for motor parts (end bells at sand blast, bearings, paint drying on stator casing) I decided to...
Not sure if I want to do that - well actually pay someone to do that :). The machine came to me with a fabricated sheet metal cover that might have to become temporary/permanent. I would like to get my hands on one for potential casting.
