    Part coming out eliptical

Right on here. I've been meaning to refit my machines with lower range of gauges, but just never had the time. The regulators can struggle with the lower pressures as well. I can dial to a low pressure, rap my knuckle on the sheet metal and watch the gauge move. What really matters is what...

    Part coming out eliptical

This is a good tip. Garbage in is garbage out. My entire family of parts is thin walled tubing. I use mostly three jaw chucks. Most of my operations are in the 40psi to 120 psi in chuck pressure***. ***Equal chuck pressure does not equal gripping force across different machines. Machines...

Help, How do you align Doosan Puma 2600 Tailstock

Waaay more likely to have the spindle out of alignment. Mostly turning shop here, easily working to a few tenths. Its easy to talk some trash without any knowledge of said goings on If you cant correct for taper in a minute or two, you're losing money.

Help, How do you align Doosan Puma 2600 Tailstock

I've never seen a tailstock on a turning center that was out of alignment, except for a hard crash. Also if there is taper, just program it out. Saves tons of time

    Multi spindle head manufacturers

"Hardy" brand seems to have the best selection of types and configurations. But they dont seem to have many actual photos or videos of actual product, rather just simulations. I tried to get SETCO to build me something a year or so ago, and never got them to reply. Googling "self feeding...

    Fanuc Oi issue

I have a 3 axis Doosan Puma 240M. I'm not 100% sure how this works, but it has been a requirement to change this parameter on this machine since fanuc wrote a "oil cross grooving" program when the machine was new. Parameter 1008 Bit 1 is the way to make the chuck index/feed the same direction...

Having Issues with VF2 - Not cutting properly!

Almost every Haas Ive ever seen makes parts with a terrible floor finish. The only exception was a brand new demo on a showroom floor. When someone shows me a sample part that looks like that, I always ask "was this made on a Haas?".

Possible to automate swapping a long tool in and out of lathe?

Why not leave the drill in the turret and cut a hole in the sheet metal for clearance of the drill when the turret is close to the chuck? How many positions of the turret are going to be occupied? Box it in to keep the chips and coolant where they belong. If youre feeling fancy, plumb a coolant...

OT: Need a Mentor I can frequently bother with questions

IF you get set up well, I need someone to build a compact simple machine. 1 spindle, 1 axis. Rapid to here, feed to here, orient spindle, then rapid home. Ive been trying to get companies like setco to build me one, but nobody will answer my emails or calls. I could probably build one myself...

Ive got a hartford BP clone in northwest oklahoma I would sell for around 2400. Could also deliver for the right price Rigid ram, step pulley J head style.Single shot lube, X axis power feed. IMO it needs a readout, and unless you have 3phase, a motor conversion or a vfd. Throw in a couple...

    O.T. aftermarket vehicle parts

Whatever you do, don't use MOOG ball joints. I was a little short on cash awhile back, and needed to spruce up the front end of my '01 tundra. It had 180k on the factory joints and was tearing up tires. Bought all new MOOG uppers and lowers, inner and outer tie rods. less than 20k easy highway...

Looking to bring small scale annealing in house

I got 2 quotes on different types of furnace's. Vacuum furnaces were a whole 'nother animal. Induction furnaces are limited in efficiency to a certain size of material, or so Ive been told. A controlled atmosphere unit from Lindberg Part no 12-RO-1824-18A, was 140k without the options for...

Looking to bring small scale annealing in house

Thanks for the time and replies. It sounds like this IS a feasible endeavor, but the biggest issue is going to be with scale. You all have provided a lot of avenues to deal with the scale. I will have to experiment with all and find what works best for our situation. I'm hoping that one way...
