On my 150, the bar change program has a plain block delete slash in front of it.
/ M98 P999
The block delete switch is not turned on. This block is skipped every time until the bar feeder tells it to load a new bar.
I haven't used block delete for anything else on this machine, so I gave it a...
Does anyone have a recommendation for a threading insert that will get right up to a shoulder? I'm currently grinding back a 16ER laydown style insert, but that's a pain, so I'm looking for something I can use out of the box.
Citizen, Star, and Tsugami would be the top 3 brands to look for.
Here's a nice little Citizen as an example. 1/2" capacity, no live tools, bar loader. It's about as basic as you can get in a Swiss. It does have a sub-spindle, so if you wanted the most basic, you'd have to find one without a...
I believe that Lipe made auto loading bar feeders for Brownies.
And not all Swiss are 7 axis. You could find a simple, used, small capacity Swiss machine with a loader for not too much money. Just something to consider.
Thanks. I'd be interested to know what you're using for data logging. It sounds like it could be useful or at least fun to play with.
I may be confusing you with someone else here on PM, but don't you have a bunch of 5-axis DMGs? Are you telling me that you run your whole shop off of phase...
There is a breaker panel between the transformer and the machine. I believe the circuit breakers are Siemens bolt in style, but I need to look. I think swapping breakers is my next step.
Thanks for the suggestion, Teach. I was going to look into the proper threading setup for the sub, but you already did the legwork for me. I appreciate it. I am going to see if they offer this in a 22 mm shank because that's what Star decided would be the best shank size to standardize on.
Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, checking encoders with a scope is out of my realm of knowledge. I may need to find someone who knows what they're doing.
In looking into this, I did just find that I have about .0025" play in my Z. I wasn't aware of this and was quite surprised by how much there was. It hadn't shown up in any other work I've been doing with the sub. Like I said in my first post, I'm mostly just picking off, spotting, drilling...
I tried machining the thread with a piece of brass. It made a really pretty looking thread, but it still had the same problem with the pitch diameter being up and down over the length. I only made one, but it did seem like the variation in pitch diameter was better than with the 416, but it was...
Sounds like a mess. Sorry to hear about all this.
On my HT23J, the feed hold button failed so that sometimes it would always be on. Pressing cycle start did nothing when this happened. Check the diagnostic for the feed hold.
Hey Pete. Thanks for checking your machine. This is a pallet machine, and it has the Sanyo drives like my other machines. I think I need to get a multimeter that can read max/min.
Hi Frank. Thanks for the suggestion. That little control transformer was the first thing I checked. It wasn't set correctly, but adjusting it made no difference.
I don't think that's the issue here because the same transformer is powering a few other machines including a HMC, but I am still going to check all connections anyways. Thanks for the suggestion.
