When I worked with scaffolding the tag system was all about who got the blame for anything that happened with or on a scaffolding.
Scaffold had to be inspected daily before use.

The contact points were not perfect. A few passes with fine steel wool cleared that issue. But did not fix the problem.
After disconnecting wires 2 & 3 then trying to active the switch by hand I noticed a rough spot near the top of the travel... working by hand 3 or 4 times...
I have a HSL-59 single phase 115v.
After several trouble free years I now have a staying on issue.
As of recently turn the lathe on and it may or may not run. Hold the switch to the on position it runs.Release the switch to neutral and it turns off.
Is it the AUX that keeps things running?

If you are a patient person the sure fire way I was shown is to use a hard punch to chip away at the drill.
I usually use a concrete pin like these.
The 2" or 2 1/2" in the link will need the washer removed. And the shorter nails will endanger your fingers.
These are hard and brittle nails...
On the subject of tool boxes Im from the keep it locked camp.
A while back a co-worker said leave a five dollar bill and a screw driver on a table in the lunch room. The money will get turned in and the screwdriver will grow legs and walk off.

Some where around here is a soldering iron with a sleeve on it that accepts 1/4" screw drivers tips.
The first version died when I twisted the iron a little hard. The second version has a couple flats on the sleeve to use a wrench for twisting actions.
It does take a kinda long time to heat up...
Lastly is the sad one abused Brown & Sharpe 7" to 8", in the last picture you can see the broken roller on the bottom right. On the bottom left its hard to see but that roller is cracked.Of course there is evidence of plyers attacking the 3 contact points. a little heat and liquid wrench got...
