I want to repair and old Ridge Tool vise. the lead screw is 7/8" diameter, 4 threads per inch, looks like Acme thread. I can't find that size and thread count as a standard acme size anywhere.
Am I out of luck on this? I suppose I could size it for one that is available and change the nut, but...
We need to drill some 9/16" holes in rubber blocks that are about 2" thick.
These are part of an assembly and have to be drilled in place, horizontally. We have a mag drill with a regular chuck and one with 3/4" weldon chuck for slugger cutters.
We are using punches for the 1/2" thick...
Flowdrill friction drill with MT2 shank. Has 8.8mm bit for making holes suitable for 3/8-16 forming tap. Includes collet and two tins of thermal paste. Like new condition. Used a few times for making prototypes for a project than never happened. It works very well. Lots of vids on youtube of how...
Got a 1943 22" CM lathe this week. These blueprints were with the paperwork. Uploaded them to Vintage Machinery.

1937 Monarch 24-N is going out of service. The carriage and ways are too far gone to repair and no one wants to buy it. Pulled the cover off the head to give it a last viewing. Gears are in perfect condition.
They always say the Monarchs wear out around the heads. This is no exaggeration...
1937 Monarch 24N lathe. 24" catalog size, 27.5" actual swing. 108" between centers. Taper attachment. Steady rest, but knobs don't turn on all 3, missing a guide. No chuck, toolpost or tooling included. Located in Brownsville, PA
Much wear on ways and carriage details here - Removing...
I need to take the carriage off our Monarch 24N. It looks like it bolts down to the apron on the underside.
My only other experience with removing a carriage is on a South Bend 10". This is a tad bit bigger. I'm guessing I need to support the apron when I break the bolts loose? Is there...
We have a large Peddinghaus band saw made by Meba. It's used on I beams and c-channel. It has a mist system on it for oiling the blade. Peddinghaus recommends their cutting oil, which is $95/gallon and used at full strength. A gallon should last us a few weeks, but $95 for a gallon seems...
I just got a Sellers Model 2B drill grinder. Made in 1938 according to the tag on it from the GE plant. The 2" wide flat leather belt is stretched out, so I need to shorten it.
I don't see anywhere to adjust the belt tension on it. The motor is fixed in place inside the pedestal and the...
Saw this at HGR's site. Pretty sure it's not a factory benchtop milling machine. Obviously built to make one specific part, and it probably did it pretty well.
Priced at $255 as of 2/22/18

I have the following for sale:
Heidenhain HR410 296-469-54 Electronic handwheel with 5 axis. Cable is about 5' relaxed and probably stretches to 10' or so. Cable appears to be new with the cap still in place. Handwheel appears new or has had very little use. I have no way to test it, but...
Used Southbend Lathe / Turret Lathe | HGR Industrial Surplus
I found this odd setup with 2 South Bend lathes browsing HGR's offerings. At first glance, it looks like 2 9" South Bends - maybe a B on the left and a C on the right. On closer inspection, the headstocks don't look like regular...
Two of the locking nuts on my Bridgeport J-head are stripped out. The lower left one will tighten up a little, but not completely. The lower right one just spins the stud like there's nothing there. Top two are ok.
Looking at the diagrams for these, it looks like i should be able to remove...

The handwheel has been getting very hard to turn on my 24" Model N. Takes 2 hands and a few grunts to get it to move. Before I start tearing into it, anyone have any suggestions for where to start looking? Removing the saddle from the apron looks like a pretty big job!

Pinewood Derby Trophies I made for my Scouts - Album on Imgur
Had our pack's pinewood derby this weekend. Made the trophy's from engine and vehicle parts. The crankshaft probably weighed in around 10lbs. I conceded to using wood blocks for the bases, but I would have rather done those in...
Is the countersink angle on a carbide insert 90 degrees?
I dropped the M3x8 screw for my mini grooving tool. Called the manufacturer and they want $5.25 plus shipping for one screw. Seemed a bit pricey for one screw. I can get a box of 100 M3x8 from mcmaster for that much...but they are...
I am making a part for a paint system that requires frequent cleaning. The paint is a water based asphalt emulsion. It gets very thick and gummy when it dries. The part is a spinner head about 3" in diameter, made of aluminum. Smoothing the surface finish helps, but I would like to have...
