I got it apart using the impact gun and strap wrench method, and it worked very well. The spindle is apart and it looks like the spindle jumped in the quill and the lock nut dug into a taper in the quill. While its apart I'd like to change the bearings, what would be a good source for them...
Thanks for the suggestions, I know what I'll be doing this weekend. It's out of the vice, this was one of my concerns as well. I'll re make the spanner wrench tomorrow with a nut on it for impact gun.
Thanks again!
So I took the quill out, and my problem is now I am having difficulty disassembling. I really do not want to damage it any more than it is. The snap ring on the top is broken and wedged, and the nut on the bottom isn't breaking loose. Is there a shop that I could send this to for repair? Any...
Thanks for all the responses, some good ideas here.
PeteM, your on point with what im looking for, and Ill investigate the float lock vise idea further.
What I currently have is a large mill vise that bolts to a table that rotates, and swings.
I won't be milling anything...lol. I'm just looking for a work holding fixture, that I can bolt down a vise, and have the ability to move it on a x-y axis.
Hi, I posted last week about a Buffalo 22 I just got, and I want to get a x-y milling table for it. I've seen some on eBay, and other sites, but most look like foreign junk. Can you guys recommend one, or point me to the right direction? Thanks!
Kubiack, I got your email, thanks again. Ill check the file when I get home from work.
Bill, I was thinking the same thing about the bushings. I'm getting runout at the top, at the bottom of the head and down at the 4mt connection.
I got mine for $450, including a set of 4mt bits and readers, 2 Jacobs chucks, and a dozen adapters. I'm getting a manual from BMT, hopefully next weekend I can take the spindle apart and figure out how I'm going to fix the runout.
